KUALA LUMPUR: After Umno withdrew support for Perikatan Nasional with immediate effect, several Cabinet Ministers and senior government officials were spotted at Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's residence at Bukit Damansara on Thursday (July 8) morning.
The activity at Muhyiddin's house was reminiscent of the "Sheraton Move" last year, with the press staking out outside his house and multiple officials coming in and out.
Among the unnamed ministers and government officials, Malaysia Gazette reported Attorney General Tan Sri Idrus Harun entering his house at 9.40am.
Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said Umno officially withdrew support for Perikatan and Muhyiddin as Prime Minister after they failed to abide by terms set by its supreme council when it was first sworn in last year.
There was much anticipation over the outcome of the supreme council meeting on Wednesday (July 8) night, as it came hours after Muhyiddin appointed Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein as Deputy Prime Minister and Senior Minister (Security) respectively.
However, the Umno president made no mention of whether Ismail Sabri and other Umno ministers should quit immediately.
Umno has 38 MPs in the 222-member Dewan Rakyat. However, there are 220 MPs out of the 222-seat Parliament at present, following the recent deaths of Batu Sapi MP Datuk Liew Vui Keong and Gerik MP Datuk Hasbullah Osman.
