Kit Siang asks Khairy why Indonesia’s Covid-19 cases dropping faster, lower than Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 3 ― DAP leader Lim Kit Siang reiterated today his earlier warning to Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin that vaccination alone will not help solve Malaysia’s Covid-19 problems.

The Iskandar Puteri MP compared Indonesia’s success in reducing its number of daily cases, saying the neighbouring nation, despite its larger population, has managed to reduce its infection rate much faster than Malaysia.

Southeast Asia’s third biggest economy has recorded an average rate of over 20,000 cases for more than four weeks now.

“Can the new health minister, Khairy Jamaluddin, explain why for 16 consecutive days, Indonesia has reduced its daily new Covid-19 cases to less than that of Malaysia ― to even less than half like yesterday’s 8,955 cases to Malaysia’s 20,988 cases?” Lim said.

“This is not fault-finding but to find ways to improve our handling of the Covid-19 pandemic so as to win the war against it,” the DAP leader added.

Malaysia is currently one of the worst-performing nations in the world in terms of its Covid-19 response this year, Lim noted.

The country’s new cases per a million people is now 572.43 compared to Indonesia’s 37.40, the Philippines’ 126.95 and Myanmar’s 61.27, according to figures from Our World in Data published September 1.

Malaysia also topped the region’s Covid-19 death rate, at 8.48 per million people. Vietnam came in second at 8.19 while Indonesia’s daily deaths per million people is 2.36, according to the same website.

“At the present pace of infection and death, we will break the 1.8 million-mark for cumulative total of Covid-19 cases today,” Lim said.

“We will break the two million-mark for cumulative total of Covid-19 cases and break the 20,000-mark for Covid-19 deaths when we celebrate our 58th Malaysia Day on September 16, 2021,” he added.

Malaysia could overtake two more countries, Iraq and Netherlands, to be ranked 21st among countries with the most cumulative total of Covid-19 cases, joining 20 other countries with over two million Covid-19 cases.

The government’s pandemic response has been severely criticised, as public health authorities continue to report five digit daily cases in the last two months.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, who pledged that cases will stabilise by mid-August, is also facing mounting scrutiny over a slew of decisions that have not significantly reduced the number of cases, including favouring strict lockdowns.

He has refused to entertain calls to resign.

Lim said he had long called on the government to distance itself from its blind faith in “total lockdowns” and to open up businesses in keeping with “Live with Covid” instead of “Zero Covid” objective and to use targeted curbs instead.

“This is an infamy we must overcome as these are unimaginable numbers for Malaysia when the Covid-19 pandemic started 20 months ago,” Lim remarked.

In Israel vaccinations appear to INCREASE infections ???

2021-09-03 13:47

ahbah

Israelis are frustrated by the fact that their nation has one of the highest COVID-19 vaccination rates (over 60 percent are fully vaccinated, and 25 percent have already had a booster), and yet is also leading the world in daily rate of new infections.

Israel has been logging over 10,000 new infections daily this week, with a positive test rate of around 7%. Many countries no longer consider Israel to be “green” on the COVID scale. By comparison, the United States has been registering about half the number of new daily infections per capita (around 900 per million citizens for Israel, just 450 per million for the US).

A new study suggests that Israel’s high vaccination rate could be at least partially to blame for the current spike in coronavirus infections.

The study was carried out last month by Israel’s Maccabi Healthcare Services (one of the local HMOs), and the results were featured in the leading scientific journals Science and Nature. (See: Why is Israel Still Giving COVID Boosters if the WHO Said to Stop?) But it only garnered serious attention here at home this week, when veteran Israeli journalist and Channel 13 News anchor Oshrat Kotler expressed her disapproval over the findings not being widely reported in Israel.

“How sad that I had to read about this important Israeli research on an American news site,” Kotler wrote on Facebook. The journalist added that she had contacted Maccabi and confirmed the veracity of the headline she had read, which asserted, based on the Maccabi study, that “vaccinated individuals are 13 times more likely to be infected by the Delta variant than those with natural antibodies.”

Indeed, the majority of the nearly 700 Israelis currently hospitalized due to COVID-19 are fully vaccinated against that virus, and vaccinated individuals make up a large percentage, if not a majority of those testing positive every day.

Israel currently has one of the highest rolling averages of new daily infections in the world. Photo: David Cohen/Flash90

In other words, the “vaccine” is not preventing either infection or transmission, though in Israel it did lower those numbers.

Individuals who are unvaccinated and who have never been infected with COVID are at least twice as likely to be infected as those who are vaccinated.
Those who have recovered from COVID are far less likely to be infected than even those who are vaccinated.
It must also be noted that the authors of the Science and Nature articles and most of the experts they cited did encourage inoculation given that the shots produced by Pfizer, Moderna and others are highly effective in preventing serious illness. Just not as effective as naturally-produced antibodies that come from being infected. This is especially true as the virus mutates.

An Israeli scientist who spoke with Nature stated that while the evidence wasn’t yet there to mandate a booster shot, there was no real risk in taking the vaccine. If the vaccinated are anyway being infected as the virus mutates, they’ll end up with naturally-produced antibodies, too.

Still, the present debate raises the question of whether or not Israel and other nations are being too aggressive in trying to control a virus that nearly all experts agree isn’t going away no matter how many booster shots we receive. If our own bodies’ immune systems are more effective in protecting us against COVID-19, why not let them do their job?

Again, even those leaning toward that line of thinking aren’t saying the vaccine shouldn’t be used. There are sectors of society that are at greater risk of serious illness and complications, and they should be inoculated. At the same time, many are arguing, and Kotler now seems to be among them, that the majority of the population should get on with life, let the virus run its course, and before long a natural “herd immunity” will develop.

“The only conclusion that can be drawn from this study is that we [Israel] need to reevaluate our course of action,” wrote Kotler. “My own conclusion is that if we don’t belong to one of the at-risk sectors of the population, then we should be very careful about this problematic vaccine.”

Kotler stressed firmly that she is not an anti-vaxxer, but insisted that when it comes to the COVID vaccine, the public “has been deceived.”

Of course, the policy she’s now championing is one no politician can adopt so long as Kotler’s colleagues in the mainstream media are hyping COVID-19 as the greatest threat to mankind.

LKS.Who never stop the Sabah election and let Covid-19 spread till now?Who made the Chinese suffer out of wanted to win Sabah back? But at the end there lose Sabah at a bigger margin.
LKS like to twist the facts like PH not at fault.
2 mistakes;
I)First round never lockdown KL and let it spread(First round of Covid)
II)PH approve Sabah election(loss a bigger margin)(Contribute 2-4 round of Covid).

https://fee.org/articles/daily-covid-deaths-in-sweden-hit-zero-as-other-nations-brace-for-more-lockdowns/

Sweden, of course, was maligned in 2020 for foregoing a strict lockdown. The Guardian called its approach “a catastrophe” in the making, while CBS News said Sweden had become “an example of how not to handle COVID-19.”

Despite these criticisms, Sweden’s laissez-faire approach to the pandemic continues today. In contrast to its European neighbors, Sweden is welcoming tourists. Businesses and schools are open with almost no restrictions. And as far as masks are concerned, not only is there no mandate in place, Swedish health officials are not even recommending them.

What are the results of Sweden’s much-derided laissez-faire policy? Data show the 7-day rolling average for COVID deaths yesterday was zero (see below). As in nada. And it’s been at zero for about a week now.

JAKARTA, Sept 6 : Indonesia, South-East Asia’s largest economy, has added 4,413 new coronavirus cases in the 24 hours through midday Monday, the least since May 18.

The government has been easing restrictions across many cities as the local outbreak starts to subside from its peak, even as the number of daily deaths remain among the world’s highest.

The country reported 612 fatalities from the virus on Monday.

The government will allow dine-in time at restaurants to 60 minutes from currently 30 minutes and will open more tourism spots in the Java island.

Meanwhile, the most severe 'Level 4' category is still in place for tourist island Bali for at least another week.

Thailand is also set to reopen more of its popular tourist destinations starting next month, betting that a higher local inoculation rate can help draw more foreign visitors and revive an economy battered by the pandemic.

The reopening of capital city Bangkok and Chiang Mai as well as beach resorts Pattaya, Cha-Am and Hua Hin from Oct 1 will be modeled after an initiative to bring back vaccinated tourists to Phuket, tourism ministry officials said.

Myanmar may relax also mobility curbs in some townships as new Covid-19 cases decline and vaccination picks up, Khin Khin Gyi of the Ministry of Health told state broadcaster MRTV. Myanmar reported 2,829 new cases on Sunday, the lowest daily tally in about two weeks.

On the other hand, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said most of the country can exit lockdown amid sustained progress in fighting an outbreak of Covid-19’s delta variant. Singapore cut the time window for pre-departure tests for travelers from most countries.

But Singapore will increase the frequency of mandatory testing for higher-risk environments, such as personal care services and gyms, and will extend this requirement to more settings with frequent community interactions, such as mall workers and supermarket staff.

The government also said it will no longer allow social gatherings and interactions at workplaces from Sept 8.

Jakarta: Indonesia merekodkan 1,932 kes baharu Covid-19, iaitu angka terendah sejak Ogos tahun lalu.

The 33 districts in Uttar Pradesh, India have now become free from COVID-19 government informed on Friday. The recovery rate has increased up to 98.7% proving the effectiveness of IVERMECTIN as part of the “Uttar Pradesh Covid Control Model.” Of course, the media won’t mention that Ivermectin is being used for the treatment of COVID-19.

Sarawak has one of the country’s highest vaccination rates, with 87.9% of its adult population already fully vaccinated.

In the past few days, Sarawak had continued to record the highest number of daily cases out of all states - mostly in the 3,000s.

However, 99% of its daily cases are mild and asymptomatic cases - with only a small number of severe cases.

Khairy said the situation in Sarawak could happen in the rest of the country, if it is proven that there is a waning effect of vaccines.

“So, we have to see what measures to stop the increasing rate of transmission and use it as a playbook in other states.

“Israel, at one time, had one of the best vaccination rates in the world. But after eight months, they start to see a rise in cases.
