Perlis Inland Port to transform state economic landscape, says Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin

PADANG BESAR: The Perlis Inland Port (PIP) is set to transform the state economic landscape by creating new jobs and economic spill over to the local community.

In welcoming the project, Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail urged the local community to take advantage of the initiative by being part of the PIP to improve their economy and wellbeing.

"The project will create new jobs in various fields and economic spill-over to the local community.

"The people of Perlis should take advantage of this development by becoming part of the PIP development to uplift their economy and wellbeing, the Ruler said in his speech at the ground breaking ceremony at Chuping Valley Industrial Area (CVIA) here today. 

Present were Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail.

Also present were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob and Perlis Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man.

In his speech, the Perlis Ruler also expressed his wishes to see the project completed according to time to boost the state economy and development, in line with the vision to achieve Perlis City status by 2030.

Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin also congratulated and thanked the state and federal governments, Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) and the project developer, Mutiara Perlis Sdn Bhd.

PIP is a public-private initiative, with the government allocating RM318 million to develop infrastructure while the private sector invests RM1.2 billion for the project.

PIP and CVIA are two catalytic projects which are set to create massive impacts to the state economy, particularly the industrial and logistic sectors.

The projects are set to transform Chuping and Padang Besar from an agricultural to industrial area.
