DAP has urged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to institute investigation against blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin for consistently making false allegations against others.

“He keeps making allegations which is later proven to be false and baseless. Though he is ‘hiding’ in the UK, he should be asked to return and subject himself to a probe,” the party’s national chairman Lim Guan Eng said in a statement.

“If Raja Petra refuses to return despite sufficient grounds for criminal charges to be filed, then he should be extradited.”

On April 20, Raja Petra published an article in his Malaysia Today blog alleging that Court of Appeal judge Datuk Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali was being investigated for having an unexplained RM1 mil in his account.

The blogger alleged that the money came in when Nazlan was serving Maybank as the group’s general counsel and company secretary.

The Office of the Chief Registrar of the Federal Court of Malaysia said Nazlan had since lodged a police report on the allegation levelled against him. He had also denied the claims, adding it was malicious and aimed at tarnishing his credibility as a judge.

Yesterday (April 23), MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki announced that an investigation paper had been opened after reports were lodged.

“Yes, we have started our investigation. The procedure is to investigate when a report has been officially lodged,” The Star reported Azam as saying. “We opened an investigation paper because there were reports lodged, not because claims were made on portals or social media.” – April 24, 2022.
