LANGKAWI: Two-time former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he felt compelled to defend the Langkawi parliament seat in the 15th General Election (GE15) as his work there was unfinished.
The Pejuang chairman added he was ready to take on his opponents in the polls.
"This should be my last election. I didn't want to contest this time, but I did not finish my last term through (previous) actions in bringing down the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government.
"I hope I can finish my job. I have a good chance of winning. I came with good support and we are in good spirits."
"I should have retired at 97, but I am standing around, talking to you and giving reasonable answers.
"I am not as old as my age. I have been fortunate to be able to function just as well as younger people," he said, adding that he was "very much young at heart".
Mahathir will face Armishah Siraj (Barisan Nasional), Zaibidi Yahya (Pakatan Harapan), Suhaimi Abdullah (Pakatan Nasional) and Abd Kadir Sainudiin (Independent) for the Langkawi seat in GE15.
He won the seat with an 8,893-vote majority against BN's Nawawi Ahmad in GE14.

Mahathir always comes out with same excuses! Always think he is the only politician suited to be PM!
