PETALING JAYA: The Communications and Digital Ministry announced that users in selected groups will be able to subscribe to a broadband plan with unlimited data and up to 30Mbps speed for RM69 per month.

Minister Fahmi Fadzil in a statement today (Jan 2) said the plan will be offered to users in the B40 income group, persons with disabilities (PWD), senior citizens, as well as army and police veterans starting March. The plan will also come with a 24-month contract period.

“The package is being offered at a rate that is 22% lower than current packages in the market which are priced at around RM89, meaning that the rakyat can enjoy savings as much as RM480 throughout the contract period,” Fahmi said.

Companies involved in the initiative include Telekom Malaysia, CelcomDigi, Maxis, U Mobile, YTL, Time Berhad and Astro.

In December, Fahmi also unveiled the Unity Package prepaid plan offering 30GB data with 3Mbps speed for RM30. More details about the plan is expected to be announced by service providers later.
