KUALA LUMPUR (May 30): Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said on Tuesday (May 30) that he is still waiting for a report on claims that some students are not paid an allowance while undergoing industrial training.
He said the Ministry of Human Resources is currently scrutinising the report.
“The ministry has taken the report, and I’m waiting for updates,” he told reporters after officiating at the Fikrah Siddiq Fadzil Seminar at Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka here.
He said this in response to allegations that some interns with ministries, government departments, agencies, and private companies had been denied an allowance.
Anwar also said that he would examine any proposal to formulate a special law to protect the welfare of interns.
“Insya-Allah, when the Ministry of Finance and I receive the proposal, I will take appropriate action,” he said.
