KUALA LUMPUR: The Education Ministry has reevaluated the Psychometric Assessment and Assessment of Physical Activity Co-curriculum (PAJSK) data of affected candidates in the recent Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM).

In a statement today, the ministry said the data would be submitted to the Central University Admission Unit (UPU) for coordination and offers to further studies, subject to the candidates' qualifications and programme availability.

The ministry said this in response to issues of SPM graduates gaining zero scores for PAJSK, resulting in the application failure to continue studies at universities of their choice.

"The ministry is conducting a detailed investigation into the arising issue and implementing intervention measures to ensure that the issue is promptly resolved and does not recur in the future," the statement read.

Previously, a parent of a student at a school in Pahang had claimed that her child failed to secure the first choice of selected university in the UPU application.

The parent claimed that upon investigation, it was revealed that errors could be found in her child's PAJSK scores, resulting in her child and other students from the school, which was declared as one of the top-performing schools during the recent SPM, failing in their first choice in the UPU placement.

PAJSK scores, which include 10 per cent of co-curricular marks, are also considered along with exam results when applying for further studies through UPU.
