KUALA LUMPUR: The Education Ministry will be reevaluating the Physical Activity, Sports and Co-Curriculum Assessment (PAJSK) data of 2023 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) students who had their PAJSK scores dropped.

It said that the data will be handed over to the University Central Unit (UPU) for the purpose of matching and offering further studies to candidates according to their qualifications and programme vacancies.

“The ministry takes seriously the issue of Sijil Pelajaran Malaysian graduates who had their PAJSK scores dropped.

“Immediate action has been taken to re-assess the PAJSK data of affected candidates,” it said in a statement, Bernama reported.

The ministry said it is conducting a detailed investigation into the matter and implementing intervention measures to resolve it.

For the record, SPM graduates who applied to continue their studies through the UPU system will see the merit score calculation include 10% of the co-curriculum score in addition to the exam results.

Recently, reports surfaced of PAJSK marks for SPM graduates being left empty, resulting in some students failing applications to continue their studies or to get their preferred choices at higher education institutions.

Among them, a guardian claimed that his son failed to get his first choice after the UPU application results for 2023 SPM graduates were announced.
