WAN Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal has described the proposal to suspend him as the Marang MP for six months over his staunch opposition against the involvement BlackRock in the privatisation of Malaysia Airport Holdings Bhd (MAHB) as an “oppression of the opposition”.

According to the Dewan Rakyat’s order of business for today (July 18), the Minister in the Prime Miniter’s Department has lined up at least half a dozen justifications for the Bersatu Youth chief to be suspended for a six-month period.

Topping the list is Wan Fayhsal’s referencing a poison-pen letter alleging the true mastermind behind MAHB’s privatisation deal during the debate on SUHAKAM’s annual report and financial statement for 2021 and 2022 on July 1.

Among others, the Perikatan Nasional (PN) lawmaker is also alleged to have identified the so-called mastermind as an Employee Provident Fund (EPF) officer by the name of Shahazwan Harris or Juan in addition to detailing the individual’s negative treatment to his subordinates.

Such action, according to the order of business notice, has not only “violated the dignity of government officers in the related ministry” but also “incite sentiment to oppose the power of the government”.

Reacting to the latest development, Wan Fayhsal said all PN MPs, including himself, will oppose “this tyrannical motion” today (July 128) in the Dewan Rakyat.

“This is clearly a form of intimidation and oppression of opposition parliamentarians who carry the voice of the people,” he hit out on his Facebook page.

“We have immunity in the August House and the content of my speech in this regard does not fall under what is prohibited under the Rules of the House.”

As such, the PN Youth deputy president claimed that his proposed suspension reflects the intention of the Madani’s government “to silence the fighters who objected to the sale of MAHB shares to the pro-Zionist GIP (Global Infrastructure Partners)-BlackRock with iron fists and bullying tactics by leveraging its majority in the Dewan Rakyat”.

“The people should stand up to welcome our struggle in Parliament by continuing to oppose and protest this transaction which is clearly harmful to the religion, race and nation,” added Wan Fayhsal. - July 18, 2024
