GEORGE TOWN, July 23 — Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow has today dismissed speculations that there will be a change in the deputy chief minister (DCM) II post.

Amid rumours involving Datuk Keramat assemblyman Jagdeep Singh Deo who is holding the post now, Chow confirmed the former is currently on medical leave.

“Regarding the speculation that there will be a change in his current position, it has never been discussed before,” Chow said in a statement.

Chow said Jagdeep had met him on July 19 to submit an application for leave to allow him to undergo a specialist checkup on his left foot, with the possibility of undergoing surgery.

“After considering his explanation for the leave application, I approved his leave for 11 days from July 22 to August 5,” he added.

“I was informed that Jagdeep has started receiving the necessary treatment on July 22.”

Jagdeep was previously quoted by the media saying that he is currently seeking second opinion on the lingering ankle problem.

Berita Harian also quoted him saying he is also in Kuala Lumpur to treat his psoriasis on top of the ankle problem, and is expected to return to work on Thursday.

Yesterday, the media reported that a Penang state executive council member was advised to go on leave to tackle his personal problems which had allegedly affecting his job.
