PEKAN: Datuk Nizar Mohd Najib, the eldest son of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, has dismissed rumours that he had met opposition leaders to topple the Pahang unity government.

The Pekan Umno division vice-chief described such a 'fairy tale meeting' (pertemuan dongeng) as having never existed.

"I, Mohamad Nizar Mohamad Najib, strongly deny the claims of meeting with the opposition leaders to bring down the Pahang government. My father Datuk Seri Najib always told us to remain loyal to the party during tough times.

"How is it possible that I will conspire to betray the party that my family fought for together with others in Umno since it was established.

"Why would I betray the Pahang government led by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, a leader whom I greatly admire and respect.

"He is kind-hearted and approachable, and has provided extensive help to my voters at the Peramu Jaya constituency," he said in a statement on his Facebook page Nizar Najib NN11 today.

Meanwhile, Nizar said as the Pahang Investment, Industries, Science, Technology and Innovation Committee chairman and government elected representative, he is not desperate to betray Wan Rosdy as a leader and the trust he has placed on Nizar.

"I am not a political frog who is willing to abandon my principles and dignity to'sell myself' to any highest bidder. Bring an end to spreading such slander for cheap political mileage.

"The message is clear. I will remain loyal to Umno, Barisan Nasional and the current Pahang government," he said.

Nizar also uploaded the alleged posting which had gone viral, 'Pahang sedang goyang! (Pahang is not stable). New state government will be formed. Anak Bossku sudah jumpa PN(Bossku son has met PN)' with the word 'Fitnah' (slander) written in red.
