AirAsia Bhd is currently in talks to establish a low-cost carrier serving the Gulf region, a market that is largely dominated by full service carriers. AirAsia Group CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said there was good opportunity for the low-cost carrier to serve the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region as the dominant airlines in the Middle East are mostly premium full service carriers.
