Those who invested in naim in 2018 and 2017 when oil prices were higher only now get to enjoy reversion to the mean. Make a lot of money after 2 months? Sure. Lose it all end of the year. Try making a lot of money consistently for 10 years Calvin.
Naim now dropped back down to 1.22 while pending quarterly results.
Good luck Calvin with your fake theories, and short term investing.
Talamt undervalued? How much money you put into this company which has lost money every quarter for multiple years on end?

So called shares dividend is just a dilution of shares from treasury stock. Meaning company no money to give you, just give you some company shares similar to esos. But at higher price of course.
I prefer money dividend.

True. But the story is still the same. You are paying 4.95% for the use of risky leverage and possibility of your share price dropping. If you capital shrinks on risky investments, your losses are very much magnified.
How do you counter that? My method is to pick a good business that never loses money, pays out currently 6% dividends, and has been oversold so much that any good news ( like lrt3 award) will float the company back up to the rm2 level.
That is how I believe you should play with margin. Not those crazy run o&g pump and dump investments.
Win big, lose big.
No dividends.

So far I've counted CalvinT promoted more than 50 stocks, out of these 50 stocks how many actually work out long term. It makes you wonder how much money he actually put into talamt. He promote so much you really wonder.... A few stocks work out he say chun chun. His overall portfolio? Does he build long term wealth? Does he hold his stocks long term or sells it after ikan bills like you join in?
At least when KYY buy stocks, you know he will buy a lot and he won't promote 50 companies.
CalvinT way of investment is like those stock trainer scam. Select a lot of stocks. Chun chun call the most profitable ones with percentage gain ( not showing how many lots held), then say his gain is 200% to show he is chun chun sifu. All while hiding the rest of his non performing stocks in a corner and heavily promoting them.
For what infernal purpose? Why only a Honest Christian like Calvin knows.
But for you who invested since 2017 using his stock tips into talamt? Guess what. Nothing happened.
NTA as a simple measure of how to value a company is silly. I challenge all of you including CalvinT to read up on the Penn Central transportation company. It has USD60 per share of hidden land, assets, properties etc etc. But it's core earnings were negative, losing millions every quarter. In the end, this USD60 per share company went bankrupt.
In accounting financial reports, tunnels through mountains and useless rail cars are considered assets. So are undeveloped jungles in the middle of nowhere.

I would also like to put my KYY disclaimer here, I dont need anyone to buy this stock to push the price up for me. The stock is horrible, no one is even thinking of buying this stock (so much the better for me). I am not looking for a trading price for me to sell, but a long term increase in earnings to pay a good dividend and share buybacks that will reward long term shareholders automatically. My preferable holding period is forever, but I will monitor closely every quarter to decide if the business fundamentals have changed and I need to drop the stock in a hurry.

I don't need to be like you, for many years I also never go and promote QL. Even now I also don't promote QL, I just prefer to teach new investors in how to look at and value companies. I don't need to be like you go promote sapnrg at every thread then say it is making a big profit this quarter, not realizing sape just sold 50% of its money making upstream business to Austrian omv for cheap cheap price. So once it sells away all its good business just to reduce debt ( still got many billions to go), then what story?
QL worth more than SAPE got reason. The reason is because it didn't have stupid management and droid shareholders like stoneraider.
Never underestimate the quality of his management.
FYI, no need to over promote la, you thinks stocks like playing computer games? Its like watching paint dry. Too much action, will definitely lose money.

Everyone knows you don't make money from stocks, so why bother?

Yes more dilution of shares, they " borrow" additional 18.9 million from outside to try to improve business prospects, to do what leh?
Partially finance the balance construction cost of the Seroja Apartments project*1

Partial repayment of borrowings*2 Within 3 months from completion
2,641,000
General working capital*3 Within 6 months from completion

Estimated expenses*4 Upon completion Total 18,979,000
Keep borrowing money from public keep diluting public shareholding by more than 10%, keep wasting your investment future. This is what so called honest "Christian" Calvin is asking you to do. Invest in companies with management's like this.
He say don't invest in overvalued companies with increasing earnings, high share growth and good revenues increasing year after year like QL.
Instead he promotes to you companies that keep borrowing money, keep losing money, keep diluting shares, keep getting into trouble like talam, karambunai and protasco.
I wonder how he sleeps at night, knowing he caused another suicide, people who sailang and put all their money into sifu Calvin recommendation and losing all their money.
But cannot blame sifu CalvinT. He also put a lot of money into talamt at 8 cents, and needs someone to help him unload higher so he can enjoy his trip to Australia at your expense.

I would have to say investors in 1974 and 2018 are very much different. The acreage pe for s&p 500 companies was around 11.68. today people are willing to pay 24.97 for the s&p 500 companies in 2018.
In 1974, you had to be a shareholder to receive the annual report by mail or had access to a moodys manual or Priceline. Today, stock screeners are free and easy to use for the general public.
I would say the pickings are much easier back then and a lot of simple investment metrics are easier to take advantage of.
Today, just relying on one metric to analyze stocks is more than likely to get you killed in the market.

I think using only one metric to value your investments is no brain indeed.
Let me introduce more metrics so you can value you opensys better.
1. Product sales breakdown and growth patterns.
2017 hardware sales of 57.6 million (6.7 million profit), service & software 38.3 million (16.6 million profit).
2018 hardware sales of 52.5 million (7.75 million profit), service and software 47.3 million ( 20.2 million profit).
What does this metric to you? The increase in sales is from the more higher margin servicing and maintenance of the existing machines and share upgrades which they charge 47 million for and a good profit. However you noticed lower manufacture and replacement of newer more expensive and better margin cash recycling machines. But more importantly, the sales of those machines are dropping, meaning banks like it, buy they don't really need it, so the refreshment cycle is put off while they prefer to pay more for maintaining older machines ( until they can move to a cashless payment model which is growing faster and faster as more people become connected to the internet). So is the business REALLY GROWING? How much would you pay if you knew that OPENSYS machine sales is going to slow down in the coming years? The services division can only exist if you have machines. No machines, no service. I prefer to pay all my bills online now via anaerobe. In fact, im typing my reply now via smartphone. I do my fund transfer online. Is more convenient. How do YOU do your payments these days?
2. Monopoly of market
Now we look at the market penetration, it is around 80% of Malaysia market. First thing you need to realize, the technology is leased with Japanese company OKI, meaning you cannot sell the systems overseas as there are distributors in other countries like Thailand, Cambodia, Philippines etc. So right now it fits the story where 50+ million a year is the 80% limit of replacement of new hardware locally every year. The most you can go up to is 70 million in the next few years in terms of yearly machine sales. This can be related via another metric, the market share size of the industry. I know this, you know this. How do you expect it to diversify its business units or grow its market in the future? CRM is already doing its best to help out the market. Can it open up the market more? I don't really think so.
3. Overall growth of business
For the stock to be a multibaggers selling 2x to 3x which is what you are proposing, the market has to grow into a 100-150 million a year machine upgrade and replacement industry. At 80% monopoly, do you think this is possible? If you are asking the share price to double or triple, you need solutions and services to double or triple. Opensys has grown very slow since 2014(45 million/5.5 np/ 2.2 div ), 2015(72 million/7.3/2.9), 2016(94.7 million/6/2.9), 2017(96.1 million/6.7/2.9), 2018(95.3 million/10/3.7), you can smell the 80% terminal growth limit here. Can they grow double or triple is revenue and earnings in the coming years? They have no competitors to take market share from, they already introduce their latest product CRM in 2016, banks are slowing down their growth of new branches in Malaysia. How else can they grow? Diversify into fintech? Software no need branch machine maintenance, no Brainer there.
4. Margin of error
This last part is also very critical. If you only look at PE and cash flow generation is good, but look deeper you will notice something very interesting. Their net assets while growing, is still very low. You are paying 100 million for a cash positive company that is worth 56 million but generates 7 million historical every year(2018 results not audited yet) Meaning if you bought the entire company, you would have overpaid by 44 million currently. Imagine if had to pay 200 million for this company (your target of 68 cents), you will have overpaid by today value around 150 million(15 years to get back the difference in goodwill based on 2018 10 million profits assuming terminal value). How do you think this company is undervalued? With a net asset value of 0.19 cents for a system which they didn't r&d themselves ( ask OKI if they can change the licensee), I don't see much undervalue there.
5. Microcap
Have you ever wondered why even with good profits, why is it still a microcap after 15 years of listing in the stock market? Very simple. Its a good business in a small market. No matter how well the company is run ( and OPENSYS is wonderful in running it's company), the market is just too small.
And that is how I look at your no brain investing. ( I still hope you do well with it! Kudos if you spotted it in 2012!). Good luck and God bless.
2019-03-24 04:47 | Report Abuse
No that is just promotion. Stock manipulation is when you buy big amount at low price ( but controlled by SC 5% declaration limit alarms), create fake volume, sell small amounts at ever higher price to create new highs. Then when general public notice and start buying in, you dump it all on the unsuspecting public, crashing the stock. That is why you have road blocks like limit up and limit down to protect amateur investors.
But still, why you invest in penny stocks that can be easily manipulated in the first place?
And more importantly, why don't you look at major shareholders( top 30 distribution) when you buy stocks? Its all in the annual report for a reason.

Yeah, just ignoring stoneraider from now on. He thinks PCHEM makes plastic forks and rubbish bins and polyesterene food packets. He also seems to think sapura will be rm3 or 70 billion in 3 years, not realizing that it is almost a certainty that sapura still needs a lot more money, and it will continue to sell more warrants, do not rights issues, and introduce more convertible bonds to raise cash, diluting his already filled share base.
He did not realize that PCHEM has never diluted it's share base dice IPO and continues to pay good dividends and high profits.
If only he bought PCHEM post IPO and drop to 4.7 when it first came out, he would be enjoying 38 cents dividend Or 8% consistently growing dividend every year, share price increase to rm9, and zero worries of letdown like his hengyuan, INSAS and sapura over 10 years.
But now trader suddenly want to be a long term investor, I worry for him.

Stoneraider, you really don't have a brain, so I'll just pity you instead. You like to take words without considering the context. When I am responding to someone, it is because I agree that companies producing plastic straws and, plastic bags and rubbish bags ( like you) have no future. There are many ways of making use of products like olefin and aromatics into highly usable products.
FYI samur does not produce plastics, it produced fertilizer ( urea).
Their other plants in kertih and upcoming PIC also produce many petrochemicals and aromatics that can be made into many many useful products for day use ( you really think PCHEM producing straws and plastic bags? Really).
It's people's like you when you spam other thread with your nonsense that you hurt the general public. Bringing them into investing in stupid stocks and useless future.

Let's imagine, wth the incoming dividend of rm269,136.00, if the share price is as 9.30, I can only buy 28,900 shares. If on the other hand the share price is at rm9, I get to buy 29,900 shares. That's a discount of 1000, shares which in the long run matters a great deal.

11.Top Glove Corp Bhd is confident of maintaining an average profit margin of 10%, backed by global growth in the gloves market and an increase in the group's capacity.
If this is the net profit margin, instead of pbt, we are looking at selling 125 million of net profit from next quarter announcement. If this is the case I believe they will be using a party of the capital allowance to reduce the income tax payment for this quarter.
That sounds like a pretty good deal ahead.

One thing I've realized about market disruptors and tech companies in NASDAQ, it is really hard to use simple metrics like PE to evaluate them ( especially if a company can grow 114% it's revenues and 660% is earnings in a year). A of companies have begin to use more specific metrics to value their company growth ( churn rate, total number of users, expected revenues per user etc), and looking at STNE results, frankly I do agree to a certain extent.
For me I'm also Looking at multiple metrics to evaluate companies. Especially for STNE I find that total payment volume tpv as a measure
The size of microtransactions they earn, and the number of SMB as a measure of their Target market (6% currently of a 8.8 million small medium business customer base)

1) I also believe the days of plastic producing companies are numbered.
2) sugar producers are also going to be having a problem. I'd like to think that sooner or later there will be legislation because lets face it, sugar is addictive.
3) Do millenials think the same way also?
4) Personally I dont use touch and go, as I think there must be better ways of solving highway problem.
5) I almost always travel via AA or silkair.
6) I'm impressed that you can survived the traffic jam. I'd rather take lower pay and work in a place where I can spend my most important resource better than to earn more and trade it for time (which is a finite resource and has far better compounding returns long term than a monthly salary)
For me I think 7) is not exactly accurate. There is not enough housing for everybody actually. Its just that majority of Malaysians cannot afford to buy their own home. If the price of housing is measured versus our GDP, per capita growth, majority of housing prices will be sub 300K. however due to speculations... I believe if we are looking for investing into developers we need to look for those that are into developer/contractor/credit type of vertical integration, those will usually aim to do projects were the selling price is within 300K range for 1000 sqft homes. Value for money will always find buyers.
8) when grab raises its prices to reduce its debt load, there will definitely be new competition. It's not that difficult to create a new taxi company.
9)Marty McFly: Hey, Doc. You’d better back up, we don’t have enough road to get up to 88.
