In the United States, 49 people were infected with the E. coli bacteria after eating at fast food chain McDonald's.

Ten customers of the fast food chain even had to be hospitalized. People got sick especially in Colorado (26 confirmed sick) and Nebraska (9), but a total of 10 different states in the western US reported infections. An elderly resident of the state of Colorado even died after becoming infected with the bacteria.
