(1) present COAL price chart: - shows spectacular decline in price

https://markets.businessinsider.com/commodities/coal-price

COLUMN-Coal price slump in Asia even as demand grows shows supply is the issue: Russell, JUNE 12, 2019

https://www.reuters.com/article/column-russell-coal-asia-idUSL4N23J199

There are articles that says it will remain depressed as per above for next few years

..........................

(2) Knowing above and going through the below brilliant derivation from DK66, one can see JAKS could indeed be heading for a Jackpot.

Jaks Resources - Earning Forecast of Hai Duong Power Plant based on Government Data

https://klse.i3investor.com/blogs/Jaks%20resources/228009.jsp

Note DK66 used price derived from February 12, 2019 article at = VND1.74m / 23,350 = US$74.5 per tonne.

Current price is below US$45 per tonne.

Nevertheless, one should note that he had explained the above is only applicable for none BOT - local coal power producers which are not subjected to the BOT contracts.

..........................

What is the fear then?

Extract from page 33:
....................

The fundamental reason for EVN’s weak financial performance has been the failure to allow end-user electricity tariffs to keep pace with costs. Given EVN’s high level of operational efficiency, it is the relatively low level of end-user power tariffs that are largely to blame for the company’s weak financial performance. EVN’s tariffs have been frozen since 2015, and only in November 2017 increased to an average rate of US$0.076 per kilowatt-hour compared with the full cost of service, estimated at US$0.12 per kilowatt-hour in 2017.

To keep pace with planned investments, it is estimated that tariffs would need to continue to rise toward US$0.14 per kilowatt hour by the early 2020s. Moreover, the present tariff is also below the price at which EVN is expected to purchase electricity from upcoming, new (renewable and thermal) generation. Furthermore, greater reliance on costlier commercial finance and less reliance on sovereign financing through the MOF in the future is likely to increase the costs of electricity production, which will require tariffs to increase to prevent EVN’s financial position from further deteriorating.

.............

(1) Now the numbers above make a lot of sense. The subsidy is about the level i calculated before on 16 Apr 2019: ~

= US$ 0.120 / kwh (full cost )- US$ 0.076 / kwh (EVN tariff)
= US$ 0.04 / kwh
=================

(2) If they EVN is forced to raise the tariff to US$ 0.14/kwh.....

that will make JAKS in a super comfortable position to reap the concession earnings.

..............

With the above, guess the puzzle i had is solved now as expressed and quoted on article below by DK66:

Jaks Resources - The Matrix Behind The Vietnam PPA
Author: DK66 | Publish date: Tue, 16 Apr 2019, 10:03 AM

CONCLUSION:
-----------

SO FAR ALL THE NUMBERS ARE FALLING IN PLACE, CONSISTENT WITH EACH OTHER

If you guys have done enough investigation to verify on the expected power plant contribution on earnings. Some even got it from the horse mouth....

should definitely ignore short term price movement (70% rise within a month definitely invites wild volatility)....who pushes up and down does not matter

as then this is truly a ticking JAK-POT bomb.

it is fundamentals that has the final say

Stock

2019-11-25 19:00 | Report Abuse

true, the great thing about power plant is that it IMMEDIATELY starts delivering profits as soon as placed in operation.

and yes, risk of commissioning delays is also very minimal - its not that complicated (multi-variable dependent)

thanks DK66, OTB

Stock

2019-11-25 17:53 | Report Abuse

key catalyst question is when is the power plant going to contribute economically?

for short term holders more than 6 months, current price may not be that attractive...

for long terms holders even 9 months could be very attractive.

..............

may be sifu DK66 can enlighten on the above...i am sure he would have done that earlier..but for newbies a refresher would be very helpful

TQ

what makes difference between a 'pasar malam talk' and 'theory'...nothing except RESULTS on prediction.

Both are 'stories' only...till you have empirical data to support.

Note that 'theory' which has empirical data to support in U.S market...can be a 'pasar malam talk' in Bursa...

we must accept that

I think that is the essence connie555 is trying to convey Ricky.

MYEG LAUNCHES FIRST PHASE OF E-GOVT SERVICES IN PHILIPPINES WITH LANDBANK

By Digital News Asia November 21, 2019

- Strengthens position as top e-government portal in philippines
- With 12 mil users a year and growing, MD sees immense opportunity

https://www.digitalnewsasia.com/business/myeg-launches-first-phase-e-govt-services-philippines-landbank

Filipinos now have the convenience of being able to transact online through MYEG Philippines's portal with Landbank’s enrolled government agencies and merchants

MY E.G Services Bhd (MYEG) has announced that its Philippines subsidiary, MYEG Philippines, Inc. (MYEG Philippines) has commencement the first phase of its online services in partnership with Land Bank of the Philippines (Landbank) to offer e-govt services to the people of the Philippines in transacting with the government.

The service, along with its other online offerings in Philippines since 2017 helps reinforce its position as the country’s leading e-government portal. MYEG had entered into a joint venture agreement in 2017 with I-Pay Commerce Ventures Inc to take a 40% stake in MYEG Philippines for US$2 million (RM8.3 million).

The launch of the e-govt service is a realisation of a partnership between MYEG Philippines and Landbank that entails the implementation and integration of MYEG Philippines’ Electronic Payment and Collection System by Landbank. As the official depository bank of the Philippines and a fully government-owned entity, Landbank has more than 400 enrolled merchants, comprising national government agencies, local government units, as well as private enterprises.

Filipinos now have the convenience of being able to transact online through MYEG Philippines's portal with Landbank’s enrolled government agencies and merchants and pay through their preferred methods – be it electronically or physically at any of MYEG Philippines’s over 40,000 over-the-counter locations.

The commencement of the new service marks the latest offering by MYEG Philippines, complementing its other existing online services such as National Bureau of Investigation clearance and renewal and further solidifying its leading position as the preferred single window for Filipinos to not only transact hassle-free with all levels of government, but also to easily access a broad range of commercial products and services, such as insurance coverage and personal loans.

‘With 12 million users per annum and growing, the immense opportunity there means that Philippines is definitely an increasingly important market for us,’ says TS Wong (pic), Group Managing Director of MYEG.MYEG launches first phase of e-govt services in Philippines with Landbank

In its 2018 annual report, TS had highlighted that with more government services and commercial offerings in the pipeline to be progressively rolled-out, the Philippine business is achieving significant traction. The annual report shows that it made US$1.68 million (RM7 million) revenue in its 2018 financial year.

Among the initial payee agencies and merchants activated as part of the first phase of this service offered on MYEG Philippines’s online platform are:

● Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office

● Philippine National Police

● Land Bank Master Card

● Cagayan Electric Power and Light Co. Inc

● City Government of Davao

● Leyte Metropolitan Water District

● University of the Philippines – Los Banos

● United Coconut Planters Life Assurance Corp. – Cocolife

MYEG expects more payee agencies and merchants to be onboarded progressively in subsequent phases of the ongoing implementation of the service.

Leading Filipino software company, Multisys Technologies Corporation and MyEG Philippines sealed a partnership to provide both private and public sectors with diversified software system solutions.
MyEG partners with MultiSys to improve systems in PH
MyEG Philippines teams up with MultiSys as its preferred Philippine technology partner to serve companies and government agencies. Shown here are (from left) MultiSys Executive Vice President, Kathlynn Mila; MultiSys Chief Executive Officer and Founder David Almirol Jr.; MyEG Philippines Chairman, Enrique Gonzalez; MyEG Philippines President, Ronald Aquino; and MyEG Philippines Chief Advisor, Paolo Martel.
This deal will enable more companies and government agencies to utilize state-of-the-art technology solutions, software integrations, and other information technology (IT) services. This offers a more seamless experience to customers using financial technology platforms that are activated in MultiSys eBusiness and eGovernment platforms.

Through its partnership with MultiSys, fintech solutions provider MyEG Philippines will be able to serve Filipinos better through providing convenient software solutions for organizations and institutions. “We look forward to this synergistic collaboration with MultiSys as we continue to expand our reach in the Philippines. This will enable us to offer a wider and more enhanced platform for essential services accessible anywhere at any time,” said MyEG Philippines President Ron Aquino.

“MultiSys is set to elevate the country’s various industries through our software solutions, which will drive the growth of the Philippine economy. Having the privilege to enrich the everyday lives of the Filipinos is certainly fulfilling for us,” said MultiSys President and Chief Executive Officer David Almirol Jr. “Our partnership with MyEG further strengthens our shared goal to make IT in the Philippines more functional and expansive.”
MyEG PH and Multisys are also in talks of bringing the partnership overseas.

Backed by PLDT which invested 2.1 Billion for 45% shares last year.
..................................................................

MultiSys is launching Smart City and Smart Government projects with various local government units to upgrade their software solutions. On the other hand, MyEG Philippines has implemented the system integration through LandBank Link Biz e-Payment facility. It also plans to launch more software solutions in the private and public sectors, such as the Online Portal System that lets residents and other customers’ access city government services online anytime.
