elbrutus - To be honest I didn't even know there was a difference until today when I called maybank and they told me. A nominee a/c is Maybank holding the shares on my behalf and and dealing with all corporate actions on my behalf (they will call me to consult what my decision is in such cases) and receiving dividends on my behalf. I guess they have this account to help newbies like me. For a direct a/c, the bank provides the trading platform only and the account holder handles everything himself.

At least this is my understanding of what the maybank equities lady told me just now.

@thurston thats what I was thinking too. But looking at the price movement from last year round about the time of the first DoJ filing (late July), AA didn't seem to be affected too much. Certainly not 5 days in a row. Maybe the political risk premium is much higher now as elections are imminent unlike last year. I really hope that's it. Because fundamentally everything looks good with AA except for the delay in the AAC deal.

Topglove2 has been yelling SELL on AA as long as Supermx has been except he appears less frequently. For over a year already when I first entered at 1.7x. So glad I never took his "advice "

Any reaction in our stocks will be knee jerk and the bounce-back will be quick. We saw this with Brexit and later Trump's surprise victory. Personally, I feel the outcome of the UK elections has less effect on us than either of the other two events.

Looks like the UK is heading for a hung parliament. Seriously, after Brexit, the US elections and now this, I'll never believe the polls again.

Yeah, thanks SharkTank. I also think besides AAC, the wider operating environment should be more favourable than it was last year which should translate to better profits. The big worries last year were forex losses and fuel costs, both of which, as you pointed out, are better mitigated this year. My biggest concern would be geopolitical shocks of which we had our fair share of last year - on that front, things haven't improved at all.

Still holding right here SharkTank! I'm gonna hold at least till AAC then maybe keep half for long term investment post-AAC. Just hope I can stomach the inevitable rollercoaster ex-dividend.

All the IB's seem content with the Q1 results and the prospects going forward. Even grumpy ol Public bank is maintaining their target price at 3.19. Some of them like MQ, Nomura and midf continue to be bullish with TPs in the high 3.xx's to 4.00. To be honest, I'm surprised (very pleasantly so) that they didn't harp on the 30% fall in net profit and revise their TPs down. Downside appears to be limited for now. Just wish they would hurry up with AAC.
