Thanks for this Icon8888. Missing you over at the Airasia forum. Then again, believe me, nothing but absolute rubbish over there for a while now.

@suicide_squad so you expect a big plunge in AA price a la CIMB? I kinda hope you're right coz I recently sold my AA holdings and am looking to re-enter cheap but wouldn't the show have started already?

I'm worried the AAC sale to Kotam might be affected by this N.Korea crisis. Wasn't it supposed to be done by last quarter? And thats when this whole stupid NK thing flared up?

@supermx2 Lol oklah supermx...you damn awesome lah

Sold 2/3 of my AA holdings. I believe in this company a lot but the external environment is just too uncertain. I also worry about how this North Korean crisis is affecting the sale of AAC to Kotam.

Selldown expected lah Supermx...don't act like it is AA's problem alone. The whole world is nervous over N. Korea.

@richardlee STFU. You do not add value to this forum in any way. You have done nothing but poison this forum. That's ok though. Everyone is learning to scroll past your rubbish CNP to the quality posts. You have become irrelevant.

I dunno, after so many rounds on the AA roller coaster, and with this latest news that now AAC will only be done by year end, I'm not convinced this time is it. Still, I'm willing to hold and wait.

Admin needs to step up and do its job before this forum loses its integrity completely. I believe many quality members have left already.

CIMB changed recommendation to Buy only because of the low base effect from the recent price drop. They didn't take into account the AAC sale. I'm sure if they did their TP will be much higher. Playing it safe.

Yeah just stop talking to him. You cannot reason with a mental patient. This guy's obsessive hate for Icon is off the charts and well into psycho territory. He could even be dangerous.

Agree with angelol. Leave this forum alone richardlee. We are all serious investors here and you are messing with our ricebowl here by cutting and pasting the same inane nonsense over and over again.

He is trying to assure longterm AA shareholders by tweeting as much info as he is allowed to release on the AAC deal. Come on lah, you really expect him to lie and say that the deal is going well if it wasn't? He'd look like the biggest fool in the world, especially to the AAC buyer - signalling extreme weakness and desperation. You think a man in his position would be willing to do that?
2017-07-14 17:17 | Report Abuse
Tony's reputation is hanging on this. Don't think he will be so careless. As elbrutus said, he has a lot more to lose than us.
2017-07-14 10:42 | Report Abuse
Its not cancelled. JN88 is just teasing richardlee. As far as I know, there is no new news on AAC one way or the other.

@elbrutus the haters always come out and say "sell" but never provide any reason other than AAC sale won't happen la, TonyF is a liar la, but no real concrete basis to support their argument. Havoing said that, you notice Supermx hasn't been around here lately? Usually he is the first hater to appear when AA price drops even 1 ct. The fact that he is not here shows you how irritating RichardLee is that he even managed to drive Supermx away.
I actually prefer Supermx to richardlee any time. Since richardlee came to this forum, it has just become complete garbage with all the quality people staying away. Imagine how much good advice and analysis we have missed out on just because of this A-hole.

"CALC is among a slew of lessors in Asia that are expanding amid an air travel boom that will see China surpass the US as the world’s biggest aviation market by around 2024. Boeing predicts China will need 6,810 aircraft in the 20 years through 2035, making it the world’s biggest single country market worth over US$1 trillion."

@mancing I doubt Icon will come back - he's probably moved on to what he believes are better opportunities. Good for him and I wish him the best of luck. Maybe he will return once AAC is is announced. As for the 3 stooges here, I think the best way is to ignore them. They have almost destroyed the integrity of this forum which is really sad because this is where a lot of noobs like me come in hopes of learning from the experienced guys. There will always be bickering - that is the nature of a public online forum - but these selfish pricks have taken it to the next level.

Where is Icon? He hasn't been here since the 3.5x days. Wish he would come back - always found his posts very helpful. If it wasn't for his early articles on AA when it was around 1.7X, I would probably never have bought AA.

@Superwoman up to you if you don't believe but your argument is not very convincing. In fact, you don't even have an argument, just an allegation. I'm with ignissimia - I also believe AA, even without any AAC sale, is fundamentally undervalued.
2017-07-05 17:30 | Report Abuse
@superwoman - so why is KEB Hana Bank arranging for the loan to Kotam if there's no deal? Why did Tony meet up with the korean bankers and post the photos? Just to fool us is it? You really think Tony is willing to humiliate himself that way?

My 12 cent divvy still sitting in my pocket. Quite tempted to use it to buy in at this level.
2017-07-04 17:20 | Report Abuse
From Tony's recent posts, it looks like Kotam have secured funding from KEB Hana. My guess is another one week formalize everything in writing and then can announce. My guess only.

elbrutus True that. I'm still a novice but I have held AA through thick and thin for more than a year. My original intention was to hold long term long past the AAC sale as I see AA going to 6,7,8 in the years to come. But I admit I also was getting a bit fed up and that article today about the AAC sale losing altitude was almost the last straw. Came very close to selling almost half of my holdings. At least now my confidence in AA renewed.

Yes it was always out there that it would most likely be a majority stake sale. Makes sense to have a minor stake in the company you're leasing your airplanes from, right? And yes, Tony will really crap on his own reputation if he doesnt succeed in pushing the sale through after all the hype. On the whole, the signs look good but I'm sure many of us who have been holding a long time now are starting to experience AAC sale fatigue.
2017-06-30 17:29 | Report Abuse
80% sale is still better than 0% sale! USD 800 - 900 million would still make for a sweet, sweet dividend.

@2ez4airasia I agree. I will sell too. I am a great admirer of Tony and am very impressed with how he's built up AA from nothing. But if AAC sale doesn't happen, I'm exiting too. But how to reach 3.4 even if there's no AAC sale?
2017-06-30 16:32 | Report Abuse
But why is Tony talking about "great leasing company we are building". Shouldn't he say "We BUILT a great leasing company" instead? "We are building"to me sounds like an ongoing affair that will continue into the future. Why should Tony be happy about continuing to build a great leasing company when he is supposedly right on the verge of selling it?
The only thing I can think of is that KOTAM will buy a part of AAC - maybe 80% to 90% as last we heard in March their bid was circa USD900M - roughly 90% of the USD1 billion price tag AAC was supposedly worth. AirAsia retains a minority stake, but continues to oversee the AAC business while KOTAM takes a back seat since aviation is not their area of expertise.
Either that or the deal has fallen through, and Tony is trying to cushion the blow by hyping up that AAC is a great leasing business so its win-win even if its not sold. Maybe his meeting with the Korean bankers was to obtain refinancing for his PP and its just a coincidence they happen to be Korean like KOTAM.
Maybe I'm speculating too much into this based on too little facts. Whatever it is, we need some closure on AAC soon.
2017-06-30 16:14 | Report Abuse
From Tony's latest twitter posts, looks like KOTAM is back in the picture as the likely buyer of AAC.
