Long long term I can see AA reaching the same lofty heights as Genting as long as it can maintain its position as top dog in Asian aviation and achieve its international ambitions. I wonder if I have the discipline to hold that long.

First the bears were crying about rising fuel price, then it was forex. Legitimate concerns, and yet AA delivered one of its best quarterly results ever. Now they cry about overcapacity - much less likely an issue than the other two. All so they can scare down the price and then scoop up for a song.

Just topped up my AA holdings another 10%. If you can't beat ém, join ém. So if the less confident ones want to sell I'm not gonna say no.

HSR fares will likely be much higher than AA fares. How else do you think they will recoup the estimated RM65 BILLION cost. Passengers on HSR most likely will be top tier executives and wealthy holiday makers - not exactly AA's target market anyway. As for Pan Borneo Highway, how many people are going to drive all the way from Kuching to KK? There are also highways from Penang to Singapore - doesn't seem to affect AA's business much.

Then those traders are out of touch with reality. Come on - forex gain in spite of the beating the RM took last quarter? No one, not even the most bullish here, would have dared to predict that. And 2B net profit! What else do they want? Free BJs as well? Whoever said the markets are irrational was spot on.

Back in May 2016, the day the Q12015 results were announced, the price dropped from 2.23 to 2.12 - a much more significant drop than today. Later that evening, AA went on to announce its best quarterly results EVER. Do you still think insiders are selling?

I thought AAX results were quite good given its been loss making the previous how many years. Mr Market is always unduly harsh on both AA and AAX. That's why Mr Market is a silly man as Cruger puts it.

Always a roller coaster ride with AA. If you hold the stock long enough, you kinda get numb to it. Just go long and keep your eye on the prize.

I recall in the days leading up to the announcement of the last two quarterly results, AA shares plunged more than 10% despite fairly decent results. This time around there is barely a dip. This gives me a lot of confidence that results will be even better than expected.

batu88 me too - I also thought Q3's results were great. How many other Msian companies can deliver quarterly profits in the 100s of millions?? Yet the market appeared to punish the stock instead. MAybe Im too new at this, but that seemed to make no sense to me.

Spot on analysis. Air Asia is the original disruptor and one of the few that have gone on to be highly profitable, yet it gets no love from analysts who wet themselves gushing over Grab, Uber, or any other tech start-up. Also, true what is said about the Malaysian government throwing up challenges to Air Asia when they should be nurturing and supporting a homegrown champion that has gone on to become a true international leader in a highly competitive global industry. Very few Malaysian companies can claim the same achievements. Yet in spite of all this, Air Asia has thrived and flourished. Truly, does any more need to be said about how ridiculously undervalued this company is?

@toto AA is a bit of a crazy ride so be prepared. When the price goes down, don't let all the negative nonsense you will hear on this forum panic you. Stay calm and assess the situation rationally. And yes, go out to KLIA2 sometimes and just see how crazy busy it is and that every passenger there is a walking dollar sign and you will be comforted.

Looks like we're in for another wild ride. On the AA roller coaster, who got balls, wins. I almost puked on one of the crazier dips but am still here, still hanging on.

It was a ballsy move by TF to regain control over his baby. A sure sign of confidence that meant good things were coming for those who have faith in AA.

Because that was the market price at the time BN_Menang. That's what spurred me to buy at that time too at around that price.

The long term prospects are good, even without considering the AAC sale. Just have to ride out the short term gyrations and block out all the noise from the haters and doomsday prophets. The way I see it, there are just two real negatives, forex and oil price. Everything else is manageable. Been on this flight from 1.70 all the way to 3.30, saw all my (paper) profits disappear at 2.17 only to see them materialize again now. It takes a strong stomach but I'm not selling. No way. Not till the fat lady sings.

VG I also didnt buy when at its recent lows. Last bought at 2.55. Was starting to get panicky recently but your level headed analyses helped me stay the course despite the bears spouting doom and gllom everywhere! Here's to seeing it shoot well past 2.55/56!

My amateur opinion is that big players taking advantage of the negative sentiment to push the price down so they can swoop in and buy cheap from us scaredy cat retailers before the AAC deal is announced.
