Ultimately, the decision whether to invest or not is subject to your tolerance to risk.

After this latest statement by Mcmc, Xiddig may wiggle its way out of the deal
Or worst case close shop.

The thing that is worrying is Gobind Singh's non-appearance at the Enhanced Malaysia International Internet Gateway (EM-IIG) High-Speed Broadband project launch in Shah Alam especially as the Minister of Communications & Multimedia.
But as far as Msniaga is concerned they will proceed with the job as per terms of contract.
Unless Xiddig goes under halfway from lack of political/financial support or from poor business sense.

I disagree that analyst find it difficult to evaluate conglomerates
It is actually not rocket science to evaluate Airasia Berhad's worth
Just need to breakdown its various subsidiaries accounts
Conglomerates are valued based on sum of parts of their various businesses
And the Beta in investing in a conglomerate is actually much lower
So I also disagree that most people shy away from investing in conglomerates

Current PE accorded to Airasia Bhd is among the lowest in aviation for a forward-thinking company

Ping Petroleum & Hibiscus both co-own Anasuria Cluster 50-50.
Anasuria Cluster was valued at USD$105m back in 2015.
Since Dnex owns 30% of Ping, Dnex effectively owns 15% of Anasuria valued at USD$15.75m.
And that was when oil prices were depressed below USD$50 per barrel.
Not bad for a USD$10m initial investment.

Sorry I made a mistake:
Imagine owning a home, where it has 6 rooms being rented out and delivering yields of 6.8% and where total sum of parts of the entire home is MORE than what u paid for. Wouldn't that be a good deal?

In 2015 at an IPO price of 1.80, a 5c dividend implies yield of 2.9%.
Now at 87c, a 6c dividend implies yield of 6.9%.
At current price levels, FY18F EV/EBITDA is below 7x, compared to its peers at 11x
and is at a huge 74% discount compared to its SoP valuation of RM1.54/share.

This reminded me of HLind back in 2016 when it was trading at 6.00 at yields of 4.7% and at huge discount compared to its sum of parts value of 10.00.

Imagine owning a home, where it has 6 rooms being rented out and delivering yields of 6.8% and where total sum of parts of the entire home is less than what u paid for. Wouldn't that be a good deal?

The problem with family-run listed companies in Malaysia is they treat the company as something they created to pass on to their next generation
Be it Jaks, Tropicana, etc so they will always be wary of outside parties who try to get on the inside and tell them what needs to be done or ought to be done

Agree with DK66
"Why is KYY's intention to get on the board of directors is being taken so negatively? While KYY intention is clearly to safeguard his investments, his entry will definitely make the company more transparent. Isn't this what minorities want?"

My 2 cents is if the single largest shareholder can't even get a representative seat on the board
Shows that the owner is afraid of strong opinionated directors & has things to hide.
Koon Yew Yin is not a corporate raider who buys companies and strip them off assets, he merely wants the management to focus their business concentration on highly profitable ventures.

Digital disruption is here to stay.
Traditional business models that worked in the past now have to co-exist with E-commerce business models
Companies need to know the importance of Big Data, and new age jargon such as Click Thru Rate, Cost per Acquisition, Organic Growth etc. or risk getting left behind

Almost every business model that can be disrupted will be disrupted.
Ewallet, Ecommerce, Ecurrency, even cigarettes has evolved to Ecigarette.
It is up to respective company management whether or not they are willing to embrace change.

Not one to speculate,
But so far, Boustead Rimba has already paid Earnest Deposit and Balance Deposit for more than RM50m and the only condition for the refund of the deposit is if the transaction doesn't go through due to Dutaland failing to deliver the title of said plantation land free from charges, encumbrances and defects.

The BoDs generally would not go into a deal knowing that they are unable to fulfil the conditions. But as always, nothing is certain in business deals and there is a risk that it may fall apart due to unforeseen reasons, ie dealing with land office, settler issues etc.
