KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 23 — Three Malaysian bank’s profits are set to take a major hit as trouble looms over cruise operator Genting Hong Kong — a major Asian corporate casualty of the Covid-19 pandemic.

A report by Singapore’s Straits Times said that how Malayan Banking (Maybank), CIMB and RHB — among some the chief unsecured creditors of Genting Hong Kong, with a combined exposure of US$600 million (RM2.5 billion) — decide to move forward in dealing with the group would determine if the cruise operator sinks or swims.

“The ball is now in the court of the Malaysian unsecured creditors, because they must show the commitment to bring additional funds to the table before the secured creditors decide what to do next,” said a Singapore-based fund manager who has holdings in Genting Hong Kong.

The report said that a senior banker from one of the three institutions acknowledged that Genting Hong Kong’s troubles were worrisome after it announced this week that it had filed to wind up the company after it failed to secure financial lifelines for its businesses.

“This is going to be painful, particularly after most banks had a good (financial year) in 2021,” he said, adding that all three banks will have to make full provisions on their exposure to the Hong...............

Fierce promotions of this counter mainly Mad cat and Calvin. Most of their money is in this counter and short-sellers/syndicates are suppressing the price of oil palm counters. Same with glove counters. The only way for this counter to LU is to wait for foreign funds to come in.

Yeah, the price is still high with future earnings potentially declining to the breakeven level due to too many new players entering the glove market throwing prices later. Time for TG to move and diversify into other medical devices industries.

Back to Mustaqim means back to penny stock company lah, guess why Kpower profit keep increasing every quarters since Karim took over but after Serba cracked down, it suddenly turned back to profit loss since June and in Sept QR reached as low as 2019 profit margin. You think because serba was being investigated or Karim left, all plants and project suddenly stop working ah??? unless there are actually no real project ma. Just wait it turned back to all reds just like pre-Karim era TP 0.09

Chef legacy on fake projects. How much can be flushed when you have same management. For all you know Chef is indirectly in control. His shares were transferred to proxy.

Both prices falling, don't see any better for ATAIMS, perhaps only NTA is still positive. But depending on covid19 situation Airasia can do better as borders are reopened. The market is there to capture that is a certainty. As for Ataims what is the prospect for an OEM producer?
