Intra-day short selling for all investors on Bursa

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 6): To entice interest in Bursa Malaysia, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak announced a three-year waiver on the stamp duty on shares of mid- and small-cap companies on Bursa beginning March 2018, whereas margin financing rules will soon be liberalised.
The stock exchange has amended the regulated short selling to allow all investors to conduct intra-day short selling. Intra-day short selling is only permitted for licensed proprietary traders on Bursa.
Meanwhile, Bursa will introduce a six-month waiver on trading and clearing fees for new investors on the capital market and a volume-based incentive programme.
Details on the implementation of these measures will be announced in a few weeks time, according to Securities Commission chairman Tan Sri Ranjit Ajit Singh.

All the details are in the Star newspaper article about the late disclosures.

"Trades too much" - "Can't keep track" was the excuse....
How lah to have face after this?

.....Koon not the only (Star)
HIGH profile investor Koon Yew Yin has been creating headlines for all the wrong reasons recently.
The 83-year-old, who has amassed a huge following among the investing fraternity, is in the hot seat for his late disclosures of the disposal of his shares in a number of companies namely V.S. Industry Bhd, Latitude Tree Bhd and most recently plywood firm Focus Lumber Bhd .
In Koon’s case, V.S. Industry had on May 4 announced to Bursa that he had ceased to be a substantial shareholder in the firm after having sold some 44.08 million shares between March 18 and April 11.
Prior to that announcement which was made only several weeks later after the stake sale, Koon was the third-largest shareholder of the electronics manufacturing services provider with an 8.8% interest.
As for furniture manufacturer Latitude Tree, Koon started accumulating its shares starting in October 2014 and finally emerged as a major shareholder with a 5.01% stake.
He ceased to be a substantial shareholder in the firm at end-November 2015 but only gave notice of his disposals two months later.
Finally, on Wednesday, Bursa filings showed that Koon had bought a 6.71% stake or some 6.93 million shares in Focus Lumber on April 11 with the company saying that it only received notification from Koon on May 9 regarding the purchase.
The Focus Lumber stock is up about 13% since the announcement of Koon’s emergence in the firm.

soojinhou .. thanks. maybe i do have a poor understanding.
but isn't it a bit premature to write of HengYuan? Its a very large company.
This isn't a sendai, focus lumber, etc
Another point: Couldn't proprietry short selling also cause a drastic drop in share price?

To my mind, without anyone controlling a substantial portion of the shares,
Only someone looking to build a new cornerstone holding like LTAT, KWSP etc
Mutual Funds
or the Investment Banks
would be able to move the stock this much this quickly. But does it really matter?
The story has yet to be written. For all we know, the stock price recovers to above RM18
in the next 12 months.

I'm not offended. Or angry. Just sick of seeing more crap on HY, thats all.
I don't pretend to know how everything in the market works.
But I do know stock promotion has a much bigger part to play than TA or FA.
Everyone does it. Sell-side analysts. Boiler Rooms. Yourself included.

Nestle just went from RM100 - RM145.
Are you going to write an essay about that?
Why is Public Bank only trading at a PE 15?
So many mysteries....

I'm sick of hearing you go on and on about HY. thats all. If you want to discuss stock manipulation etc, , make it a wide ranging topic.
You've also failed to investigate claims of a certain inidividual. If this person really did invest in HY at ~ 100 mil level, how is it that a
1) Substantial Shareholder declaration was never filed?
2) If said individual controls < than 5% outstanding shares, is it possible to move the MCAP
of HY from RM2.8 Bil - RM5.6 Billion?
3) With so many other sharp price movements, from Pansar, UMWOG, Yoyoink, Caely, Notion Vtec etc why focus on just this counter?
Again. stop deflecting. Trolling is what YOU'RE doing, publishing this nonsense article.

Again we see your obsession with the share price of 1 O&G stock over the period of 2 months.
There were other O&G counters with super-charged price movements.
1) Sapura from 67c - RM1 (took 3 days) ~ 50% jump in 3 days
2) UMW O&G 29c - 48c ~65% in 12 days
Non O&G
- Toyo Ink -WA that jumped from 0.005c to 22c ~4300% in 2 days
Why? Why does HY bother you so much? Its in investible security. Pays a dividend.
Its not a scam. Its a refiner.
If you want to talk about killers/scammers, may I suggest
1) Bitconnect
2) Gennevva Gold
3) ATLANTIC GLOBAL ASSET MANAGEMENT

ASK YOURSELF HENGYUAN IS REALLY GORENG STOCK LIKE WHAT KC SAYS LEH ??
THE ANS IS NO LOH....!! THE CASHFLOW AND EPS RM 4.00 PER SHARE AND RM 3.03 SUPPORTED THE UPSIDE SHARE PRICE MAH...!!
I don't think I said HY is a goreng stock. But the share price behaviour of HY in the couple of months certainly shows that HY was being "gorenged", and "gorenged" heavily.

rchi. he is not even a Substantial shareholder in HY.
Go to Bursa, and look at the Company Announcement.
Obligation to report threshold crossings
Shareholding of 5% and above
Section 137 of the Companies Act 2016 imposes an obligation on individuals and corporations that have an interest in 5% or more of the voting shares of a Malaysian incorporated public company (whether listed or unlisted) to disclose that interest to the relevant public company and to the CCM.
Note: "Voting shares" means, for the purposes of these disclosure requirements, an issued share to which there is attached a right to vote.
According to Section 136 of the Companies Act 2016, a substantial shareholder is defined as:
A person who has an interest in one or more voting shares in a company and the number or the aggregate number of such shares is not less than 5% of the total number of all the voting shares included in the company; or
So where is he???
2018-03-09 20:58 | Report Abuse
Its all a bunch of nonsense.
In HY case, he didn't even have enough shares to be declared a Significant Shareholder...
If he really did control 20 million shares, then he'd have to make such a declaration, which he NEVER did.
Why is no one bringing up this little issue?

I'm sure he'd like everyone to believe he solely controls the market and individual stock prices.

So people come to him and worship him, feed his ego and most importantly give him funds to invest.
Not for free. Trust me.

And you can't blame any one investor for a massive stock price drop.
What about writing an article about the drop in price
From RM8 - RM 2.
What about that drop?
Why focus on the RM19 - RM9?
2018-03-09 20:28 | Report Abuse
Why is this article bad?
It makes the assumption that everyone that invested bought in above RM10, which is only those holding before 2011, or those who bought Mid-Nov 2017
Guess what?
If you had bought Shell or HY anywhere from Mid-June 2013 till NOW, you would still be in profit.
As a Long Term investor, I'm shocked you;re so focused on short term price movements in 1 company.

THank you for taking your time Amit. Much appreciated.
We live in an age of smart phones & devices. However I've noticed that folks still need & want to own affordable, durable wristwatches.
I mean, all the smart-watches need to be charged everyday, and are insanely expensive. Not a practical or reliable proposition for the majority of folk.
My take is that the casio watch, especially G-shock business has a natural moat.
Additionally, they sell casio keyboards and electric pianos - higher margin , more expensive products. A great solution for kids who's parents aren't able to afford the real deal, but want something to practice on.
There will be furious competition online and from parallel imports. I do hope management decides what to do with that very large cash pile.
Cheers!

PAKATAN Harapan (PH) says it will only take 100 days for it to put into place 10 major policy changes if it is voted into government in the 14th general election.
In its soon-to-be released manifesto, the opposition pact has listed down areas of change which it will be prioritising as it seeks to address the people’s economic woes and reform public institutions and policies.
The PH “Buku Harapan”, or Book of Hope, is scheduled to be announced tomorrow, and will be divided into five main sections; reducing the people’s burden and cost of living, reforming institutions and policies, spurring a sustainable economy, giving rights to Sabahans and Sarawakians according to the Malaysia Agreement 1963 and creating a moderate and inclusive Malaysia.
Within the first 100 days of taking office, PH aims to fulfil 10 specific pledges, which are:
1)Abolish the goods and services tax (GST) and take steps to reduce the cost of living.
*****2)Reintroduce targeted fuel subsidies to stabilise the price of petrol.********
