Correction on the total deal. It should be:
- rm 650 million cash
- 95 million ULS = rm 95 million
- 120 million new Kenanga shares * 0.65 (last price) = rm 78 million
grand total: rm 823 million.

===========
K&N Kenanga has sealed the deal to purchase ECM Libra’s investment bank and stockbroking businesses for rm875 million. The purchase will be satisfied by rm 650 million and the issuance of 95 million ULS and 120 million new Kenanga shares to ECM Libra.
The price tag values at 1.27 times over is book value of rm 688 million as at Jan 31, 2012.
The total payout for the deal is 68 sen per share, while the new Kenanga shares and loan stocks are valued at 63 sen and five sen each respectively.
===========
So the total deal is:
- rm 650 million cash
- 95 million ULS * 0.05 = rm 4.75 million
- 120 million new Kenanga shares * 0.68 = rm 81.6 million
grand total: rm 736.35 million.
How much does that translate to share value of ECM?

Hey, we can have our own gathering. I remember last years there was a cafe at Invest Fair at the left hand side of the hall as you go straight into the exhibition hall. We can set a time to meet and chit chat there..
Say.. 3pm this Saturday (16 June)?

Trading style - Friday should usually be a day to buy and not a day to sell as we are more likely to pick up bargains on Fridays... what do you guys think?

KPSCB - dropped beyond the 10% loss limit. So i cut loss and sold half of my holdings on this stock.. don't know whether that privatization news someone told me is still true or not
PERISAI - bought another 20 lots for long term investment in view of the recent positive analyst PT estimates
ECM - bought another 13 lots in anticipation for the KENANGA-ECM merger news as promoted by chong

Only read "Think and Grow Rich" long time ago - it is light and easy to read. But I disagree with the title that these are "must read" books.

The police making such press statement, is obviously out of touch with the power of social media (and youtube - where everybody can publish a video news report nowadays), or under pressure from certain party..

As the "rakyat" of this country, don't you think we should select the government that will give us the best chance of survival and be competitive in the global market? That will benefit us investors too.. just look at Korea..

Min fee is RM10, any securities. Looks like there's no catch.. they just want to get more customers by having this promotion. After all it is a very competitive market for them.
Somehow I find that most people prefer Hong Leong bank in this forum for certain reasons, even though their brokerage fee is 0.1%.

My friend told me that ECM just called him about a current promotion that they run (now till mid May): trade 5 times and get the next 5 trades free. Brokerage fee is 0.08% and min RM10.
Anyone using ECM to trade? What do you think of their trading platform and research news?

normal people like us should have more advantage in investing as we can be more flexible and able to make decisions quicker.
the general problem i see in normal investors like us are:
1. no proper risk management
2. driven by emotion (have a gambling mindset)
3. lack of time/knowledge to monitor and adjust our portfolio especially if we are not trading full time

I'm using Hong Leong eBroking and I also have other brokerage accounts. I still think Hong Leong is the best with its 0.1% fees and excellent technical/customer support.
Based on experience shared by others, sometimes cheaper fees is not always better.

I've make some good and bad trades. The worst is probably NAIM, where I held on to the stock following the advice from a Technical analyst who was betting it for the Sarawak election play last year. Eventually that proved to be a bad decision.

Actually I feel my portfolio performance in the past 2-3 years is mediocre only. I've see others posted gains of 70%-100% over the same period (from 2009 until now) in the discussion here.
I've also noticed many good tips recently in the discussion. Some I did not follow but they proven to be good tips.
I guess investment is a continuous learning process. As we read more, trade more and discuss more, we all become better traders/investors.
Well, at least I am still making gains and not loss.. so I am happy to be in the 10% group who make money from the stock market :)

Of course I will vote, but my vote will go to the more intelligent candidate.
You can see the comparisons of debate between Obama/McCain and GuanEng/SoiLek in my blog post here: http://klse.i3investor.com/blogs/kltrader/1115.jsp
There are obviously a large gap that our politicians need to catch up.
2012-02-22 23:16 | Report Abuse
The topic: "Are we heading towards an advanced high-income country?" is a no brainer. We would have been a high-income country if not for EPF and PNB to spent our 1Malaysia $$$ saving those GLCs like Proton and MAS.
I will compare them against Obama and McCain because they are still having the mindset that we Malaysian voters are stupid and would support those politicians who can't even have an intelligent speech about policies. It is time for our politicians to wake up and buck up, or they will loose our votes.

Personally, I feel Ong Tee Kiat is a better debator than Sooi Lek and Guan Eng.
Guan Eng is just a mediocre speaker, while Sooi Lek lacks intelligent content. In the recent debate, they were not debating smartly about the topic, instead focusing on attacking each other and saying things to appeal/please their target voters/supporters.
Try comparing their debate to Obama vs McCain in the US Presidential debate, and you will see the difference.

if a person is very successful in trading by using the software, does this person still need to promote strongly to sell his software to others? think logically...
