The average selling prices for last quarter ended 31 Dec 2017

KYY was misleading readers in writing below, because he had not included the bonus effect over the share price. The impact was not as big as what he described.

Despite certain matters discussed in the article sound good, but I do not agree with what KYY said, why? I will explain more after getting more information.

KYY has failed in CSCteel even though he had written number of articles about Flat Steel. It proved he was not correct about flat steel. The company's financial results & price movement had confirmed his misjudgement.

Oh.... didn't follow up on this company, now only realised last Q making loss, surprised.

Time to collect when many are panic? Time will tell

Overall, I had 50% in masteel, 25% each in Ann Joo & SSteel and all my targets were hit in Masteel (1.60), Ann Joo (3.80) & SSteel (2.40) & I was busy selling all then, so I didn't have any of it now :)

After that, I bought some VS warrant when it was below 70c. Not much, about 10% of my fund. But now it grows to become 20% of my funds :)

At that time, my judgement was downside -5% & upside +30%~50% for steel.

As for Pohuat, my judgement was downside -5% with upside +20%~30%. So it worth for me to go in.

You are right, paperplane, warrant will be good alternative.

I have been monitoring Poh Huat since last year and decided to go in when price was RM1.83-1.84 this morning.

The result is fairly good but may not as good as expected by some others, the company has been on the expansion mode & has been incurring capital expenditure to expand production capacity.

Therefore, the inventories used in the production of rebar during the quarter 30/9/2017 will very likely at the cost as stated in the Quarter 30/6/2017.

Reasons are as follows:
1. Most of inventory was in raw materials

2. As per 2016 Annual Report Notes No.9, the raw materials of RM363mil was enough 5 months productions of rebar.

Please take note that as per Jun 2017 QR, the closing stock was RM433mil & most of it was believed as raw materials.

However, please take note that the Cost of Inventories was on FIFO basis, please refer to Accounting Policy of Masteel's Annual Return, instead of Average Cost basis as used in the article:

Inventories are carried in the statement of financial position at the lower of cost and net realisable value. Cost is determined on a first-in first-out (FIFO) basis. The cost of work in progress and finished goods comprises materials, direct labour and attributable production overheads based on normal levels of activity.

Write-down is made for obsolete and slow-moving items based on their expected future use and net realisable value.

Net realisable value is the estimated

May be we can apply discount factor of 40%, Masteel can still earn at least RM115mil from inventory itself.

Inventory on June 30 was RM433mil & most of it (95% above) was raw materials, based on last 4 years' annual reports (2012-2016).

Since 30/6/2017, Iron scrap price has increased from USD240-270 to last week USD370-390, about 44% up.

Applying % increaed to inventory value, doing nothing Masteel can earn at least RM192mil.

Judge yourself if is Masteel still undervalued at this price?
