"Look at past records, RHB DRIP take-up rate were around 85%,
Logically, the DY = (0.15+0.15+0.10*(15%) ) / 5.50 = 5.72%."
@i3gambler, someone who has bought RHB Bank at RM5.50 a share and did not take up the DRP shares allocated to him would have received total dividend amounting to RM400 a year. His dividend yield is 7.27%. Your argument is specious. I subscribed for all the DRP shares offered to me and I gain an extra couple of hundred Ringgit. I also bought my RHB Bank shares at an average price of about RM5.50. My dividend yield is therefore slightly higher than 7.27%.

Strong volume is normally associated with sharp price rise but we have seen strong volumes on quite a number of occasions without noticeable price increases over the past few months. Maybe the big boys haven't accumulated enough. Be patient, haha.

China's economy is about as big as the US's economy. Seizing China's foreign exchange reserves will also hurt the US badly as China has the ability to fight back on many fronts. Mindful of this eventuality, China has already reduced its US dollar holdings by about $400 billion over the past 6 to 7 years and increased its holdings in gold and other currencies. Anyway, there is absolutely no reason for the US to do such thing even if China were to attack Taiwan one day because it is basically an internal affair.

@i3gambler, you must have failed your SPM mathematics badly. After being allocated drp shares, you also choose to sell those shares. Suppose the amount of dividend that you can use to subscribe for drp share is RM4880, you would be allocated 1000 new RHB Bank shares which are worth RM5510 today. Can you re calculate RHB Bank's dividend yield?

Tenaga's unprecedented rise of around 30% since the beginning of August last year has been largely due to EPF's relentless buying. EPF's holdings in Tenaga has increased by 200,000,000 shares over this period, from about 855 million shares to over 1.065 billion. Any one knows why EPF is buying so aggressively?

No clear laws in the country to look after the interests of small investors, so major shareholders just use the loopholes to take advantage of small investors. Should they want to take the company private, maybe they would just offer something slightly better than the prevailing market price instead of taking into account the company's actual worth.

@Tedinvestor, can you list down the comments that Maybank promoters wrote about RHB that you think are despicable? The fact remains, 95% of RHB Bank shares are held by those holding more than 100,000 shares, those holding less than 10,000 shares only control 2% of RHB Bank's paid up capital. The big boys will determine how much RHB Bank is worth, we small investors are just followers. Whatever small investors write will have no effect on RHB Bank's share performance.

CIMB bank fluctuated between a low of RM4.80 to a high of RM6.77 over the past one year. At RM6.62, it is not far from its 52 week high. Those who had bought at around RM5 have a capital gain of over 30% and over 35% if you include the dividends. RHB Bank investors have a total total gain of less than 10%.

i3gambler, with DRP, RHB Bank's total dividend payable this round would be reduced by RM430 million, assuming the take up rate was 100%. It would need to issue an additional 88 million shares to its shareholders but it has an additional RM430 million to spare which it can loan out to earn interest. Maybank has 13 billion shares on issue and Public Bank has almost 20 billion shares compared to RHB's 4.3 billion.
Suppose my total dividend this round was RM10,000. I would be allocated 4,000/4.88 or 833 additional new shares which I can dispose of now at RM5.50 a share for a total of RM4,581.5. With DRP, I have extra RM581.5 or 5.815% extra.
