I only have investments in RHB Bank and Maybank, the two bank counters with the highest dividend yields among bank stocks.
2023-08-16 11:02 | Report Abuse
Has been going up steadily in small volumes for over one and a half months, gaining over 25% during this period. Some investors are probably betting on the company being taken private.

Investors should know the quantum of interim dividend to be paid in less than two weeks, just be patient. RHB Bank won't disappoint you.
2023-08-15 16:09 | Report Abuse
With improved earnings (already earned almost 18 sen a share in the first quarter), RHB Bank should be able to pay better dividend this year.

Hope this rally can last for several weeks and not end too prematurely like in the past.

It was trading at below 10 sen several months ago, the lowest in more than 10 years. Still a long way from its rights issue subscription price 6 to 8 years ago. Many investors are still suffering from huge losses.

If results end in 3-3 and PH+BN retain 2/3 majority in NS, Sel and PP, then market would react positively.
2023-08-10 17:00 | Report Abuse
CIMB's dividend yield is around 5%, RHB is over 7%. If you are investing for dividend, then you should buy RHB Bank.
2023-08-10 10:29 | Report Abuse
CIMB Bank's share price looks set to catch up with or even surpass RHB Bank's share price. At one stage several months ago, RHB Bank was 50 sen higher. While CIMB has staged a strong recovery from its recent lows by shooting up over 80 sen, RHB Bank has only gone up by less than 40 sen.

Market is probably expecting a PH+BN win in the state elections.
2023-08-09 17:08 | Report Abuse
PNB and EPF do not need to pump up RHB Bank and Maybank. They would spike by themselves should PH+BN still win more than 2/3 majority in the three states that were under PH control prior to the dissolution of the state assemblies.

UEMS major shareholder Urusharta Jamaah has disposed more UEMS shares but its share price keeps going up.
2023-08-09 15:22 | Report Abuse
Should move up if PH+BN are able to get 2/3 majority in the three states that PH controls at the moment.
2023-08-09 09:33 | Report Abuse
Luckily MRCB could still attract some speculators to "manipulate" the counter. Otherwise it could still be struggling at around 30 sen s a share.

Nobody can predict the outcome of the state elections this weekend. Better to tread cautiously and to take profit if there is any.

Unless an investor doesn't need to pay brokerage, stamp duties and clearing fees, otherwise the government's initiative is just meaningless.

I have more investments in RHB Bank than Maybank. RHB Bank's PE ratio is less than 9, Maybank is almost 13.
2023-08-04 21:50 | Report Abuse
It hasn't performed as well as Maybank so far this year. Foreign funds prefer Maybank.
2023-08-04 20:39 | Report Abuse
Turnover has exceeded 100 million shares on three days over the past few weeks, not seen in more than two years. This rally is unlikely to be another flash in the pan again.
2023-08-04 16:03 | Report Abuse
Some investment banks have given MRCB a much higher valuation, so don't be pessimistic.

This is another cash rich company with NTA at RM2.38 a share, twice its current price.

"Padan muka tiger bank ! Better ho hong leong bank"
HL Bank's PE is slightly higher than Maybank's, its dividend yield is way lower. How could it be better?

"Banks are very safe investments. In fact more companies should invest their excess cash in banks"
@speakup, some companies don't know how to do this. Keck Seng and Facb Ind are both cash rich but they prefer to keep their excess money in the banks.

'Net cash 1.07 billion
Has cash rich assets!"
@Diamond7, Around 135 million Keck Seng shares are owned by the public. Keck Seng's substantial shareholders can make use of its net cash and offer almost RM8 a share to these public shareholders and take the company private. So simple.

I think the rally is sustainable judging from the high volumes over the past 10 trading sessions.
2023-07-26 21:12 | Report Abuse
A substantial shareholder of UEMS, Urusharta Jamaah Sdn Bhd has disposed of 4.8 million UEMS shares over the past one week, yet UEMS shares still keep going up.

@BullOfWallSt, this fellow and success2628 are the same person. success2628's account has already been suspended. I suppose his new accounted would be suspended too if he continues to post rubbish.

Both MRCB and UEMS are considered as UNMO linked companies. UEMS is now trading at above 50 sen but MRCB is still struggling at below 40 sen. UEMS's share price has doubled over the past month but MRCB has just gained about 30%. Time for MRCB to catch up.

Its audited NTA is already above RM6.50 a share. Its actual NTA could be more than 2 times higher since a lot of its assets have not been revalued for 40 years.

After plunging to RM3.03 five weeks ago, the lowest in 9 years, it has steadily moved away from its multi year lows and is now well clear. Naysayers who predicted that Hap Seng would dip below RM3 have now gone into hiding.

For me, if it can reach 45 sen by this week, I am extremely happy already.
2023-07-25 12:36 | Report Abuse
At RM10 a share, its dividend yield won't remain at 7.8% unless it increases its dividend payment to 78sen a share which is not likely.

Unable to hold above RM9 now. It would certainly return shortly for the second attempt.
2023-07-25 12:03 | Report Abuse
MRCB was heavily traded last Friday. Investors (or speculators?) who had bought last Friday have to pay up by today or face forced selling tomorrow. Looking at the price movement, I think most people still believe that MRCB could move up further.
2023-07-25 10:59 | Report Abuse
Overcoming RM9 barrier soon, if not today then should be the next few days.
2023-07-25 10:47 | Report Abuse
Even at RM10 a share, its dividend yield is still at a commendable 5.8%, much better than 12 month fixed deposit rates offered by banks.

MRCB has been trading at below 40 sen for around two years. Hope its worst is over and its share price can recover to above 50 sen.
2023-07-22 14:17 | Report Abuse
We haven't seen such a high closing price for over a year. High turnover suggests the uptrend would likely continue.

Foreign funds had been net sellers of RHB Bank in the first half of this year, with net selling amounted to over RM600 million. RHB Bank might hit RM8 in the next two, three years. Your expectation is obviously too high.
Stock: [L&G]: LAND & GENERAL BHD

During a bull market, every damn counter would move up, including loss making counters. Lower liners would go up much more proportionately. L&G has been profitable all along and should go up to where it was years ago.
