Maybank made over RM8 billion in 2019, consistently pays handsome dividends of over 50 sen a share over the past 10 years and has a nta of RM7.5 a share. How much did Maybank make in 1997?

NTA is RM6.18 a share. Even after a provision of a RM 2.8 billion loss, its nta is still RM 5.18 a share, much higher than its current share price. Will likely fall very badly next Monday.

"prudentinvestor, you just answered your own question. "Could" and reality is still a debateable subject. Now that I had made you read your article. You realize that 1.3mil is going to take them till Dec. To really by July. You can calculate the number."
@moneymakerx, if I say that the vaccination rate could be ramped up to 2.5 million doses a day because the president had already said he wanted to vaccinate all Americans by the end of July, do you still say that "could" and reality are still debatable because you don't believe the new president is incapable of delivering the goods? Come on lad, don't try to find bones in an egg.

"What is the growth there? Can the bank serve oversea market? or tenaga export to oversea? All of which are bound to Malaysia economy, and we are in negative zones in terms of growth now. And these sectors require economy of production to be booming to really benefit from. But if bank counters make you sleep soundly at night, just go ahead. I dont think anyone is saying negative things about banks other than more and more naysayers here saying negative about gloves."
@moneymakerx, Aren't our banks serving overseas markets like Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, China, Vietnam etc? Tenaga doesn't need to export its electricity overseas, it has total monopoly in Malaysia and is making good money. What's wrong with recommending buying bank stocks and GLCs instead of glove counters?

In the last week, an average of 1.30 million doses per day were administered in the US, not close to 1 million doses. The vaccination program was derailed due to extreme bad weather. The vaccination rate could be increased dramatically. Never assume that the vaccination rate will stay at 1 million shots a day. So when Biden said he "hoped" he could vaccinate every American by end of July, "Hope" and reality are also different?

"Israel being the country with the most vaccination of COVID19 didn't see the results most were hoping for. There is no sharp dive of numbers, because vaccine dont prevent spread or infection. It only controls the disease."
@moneymakerx, read this article dated 05 Feb 2021 "Vaccines are curbing COVID: Data from Israel show drop in infections".

"To fully vaccine the whole world we will take 7-8 years if not more given the current maximum speed of inoculations,..."
@moneymakerx, at this rate of vaccination, millions more could lose their lives. I think everyone on earth should have a chance to be vaccinated by the end of next year. The new US president has already said that he hoped to vaccinate every American by July this year. Astra Zeneca, Pfizer and Moderna have an estimated production capacity of over 5 billion doses for 2021 (not including production capacity of new comers like J&J), China has a production capacity of over 2 billion doses while India has over 1 billion.

@moneymakerx, once vaccination is complete and all restrictions on the economy removed, economic growth should gradually return. It can't be worse off than it is today. Apart from gold, I can't really think of any commodity prices that have breached historical highs lately. Bank counters and other GLCs like Tenaga are trading at reasonable levels.

With the start of vaccination, Malaysia's economy is en route to recovery. Buy bank stocks and other GLCs instead of glove counters.

I hope it could drop to RM7, better lower but I doubt it would. No one knew last year when COVID19 vaccine would be made available to the public but it is available starting next month.

MRCB should go up to at least 80 sen a share by 2021. This means an upside of over 66%. Not a bad gamble if you have spare cash.

Buy now and keep for two to three years. I am confident it would reach RM 5 by then. This means an upside of over 60%. Be positive, think long.

Judging from the large number of comments that have been put up on the investor forums, I have no doubt that a lot of small investors have invested in Top Glove and Supermax and have suffered from heavy losses.

Despite a 25% drop from its recent peak, Top Glove is still 5 times higher than it was at the beginning of the year.

At 8.62 a share, Top Glove has a market capitalization of about 70 billion. Assuming a PE of 20, it needs to achieve net earnings of 3.5 billion. Does any Top Glove investor really think this is achievable in the long term?

Has anyone ever thought what Top Glove's (and other glove counters too) share price would be when everything returns to normal?
2020-09-03 10:29 | Report Abuse
Everything will be back to normal within the next one and a half to two years. There will be bad over capacity in the glove manufacturing industry then and the share price of glove manufacturers will return to early 2020 levels. There is certainly excessive speculation right now.
