My guess: Operating profit 700m, associates 300m, forex 200m, interest etc 100m = net 700m.

Char1234, the past doesn't equal the future. Few years back Airasia was really a mess despite it has good edge in air travel. Just to recap, they would hedge very little when fuel price was low and buy a lot of expensive fuel when it was expensive. They will startup associates everywhere while most of the associates was failing. They would skip a lot of maintenance work just to save few hundred ringgit, few years back Airasia has a lot of minor technical fault, plane not starting, sliding out of the runway etc etc etc Billions of dollars were wasted.

It has all changed after the plane crash, then TF was back. Now Airasia has fantastic hedging strategy, all of the associates will contribute positively in FY17, fantastic financial skills and muscles to negotiate great deals. After today Airasia's yearly net profit will equalise Singapore Airlines, and you will see the fall of the Singa from now on.

Airasia is so big now nobody is able to challenge. Malindo wants to grow, go fight with MAS.

If you read Cathay Pacific or Singapore Airlines' Annual reports, everything drops, drops, drops, margin drops, revenue drops, load factor drops, etc....

If you look at the potential market of IBS, its really huge. Its not only Pr1ma, there are MyHome, Termiskin, PPA1M, etc, so many projects of Ah Jib that could even damage the commercial market. Each projects want to build 50k, 30k, 20k units of apartments in almost every states. (Someone please check that.) Anyway, that's not the point.....

This is where the market misunderstood airasia. Myr used to be correlated to oil prices but now oil already double but myr not really moving that much. Market will adapt, adjust towards reality.

Thanks. I see the management is committed, the two boats will be rented out once O&G recovers, which will probably be happening within a year. The portfolio was meant for the competition so it's design to hold stocks for one year. At the time DAYA was at a turning point.

In fact the logical thing to do is to calculate the marginal benefit of choosing stock (but nobody does that).

Stock A gives 30% in 12 months. Stock B gives 20% in 12 months. Stock C gives 100% in 12 months. Then you choose.

batu88, i don't know about your place. But here MAS is cancelling flight too often to maintain high load factor, company like that no hope at all.

Air_Asia, Q4 is very important.

After Q3 Airasia's drop was because MYR depreciated a lot, the deutsche analyse report, and a few negative news report, among other things.

The market expects Q4 profit to be very little, if any.

Recap what i said before:

1. Q3 operating profit is already 531m. TF mentioned Q4 is "super good". So, if you believe him like i do, Q4 must be way more than 531m.

2. How about the lower q-o-q load factor? My assumption/observation is Q1 and Q4 is strong quarter, Q2 and Q3 is weak. So, Q2 and Q3 give away a lot of free tickets and discounts. Because Q4 is expected to be so strong, Airasia gave away less tickets and discounts. It is "quality" numbers, or translate into higher average fare.

3. Contributions from associates have been positive for 3 consecutive quarters, at 219M, 11M, 36M respectively. Note that again Q2 and Q3 is weak, so Q4 must have at least 200M from associates.

4. The thing i like the most is Airasia could increase revenue without incurring higher cost (the bonus is another issue lah).

Sell more to the same customers, sell more to different customers, increase the price, reduce cost, revitalise a lossing/failing department.
Practically Airasia is doing all that at the same time. Master-class management.

The unusually long winter has gave the Influenza a good chance to grow and mutate. Once the cold weather is gone, the outbreak will ease.

Seems like Taiwan did a good job in containing the diseases. Nothing to worry about, just minor financial losses to the farmers.

In dealing with any problem, we must know the cause and find solutions. In the case of Avian Influenza, it is just a form of "cold" (感冒). Stay warm stay healthy helps.

I think using EM™ fermented with soya bean, seaweed and molasses to enhance the "power" of the good bacteria, spray around the area and mix with drinking water will do. For human prevention, EM™ X-GOLD will do.

When MYR depreciated, my observation is that there is a tendency of foreign shareholding selling.

Now EPF, Tune, foreign shareholding hold more than 80% already. The free float is actually very limited. But some times when there is huge volume, one wonder where is the shares coming from.

The opposite applies to Airasia. If Airasia can deliver no matter what oil price is, sooner or later people forget about oil has any influence on Airasia. Now its actually the case, but the right thinking takes time to happen.

I projected 700m-1b net profit for Q4. But next week macro environment a bit unfavourable for airasia. After all not many analysts know how to count.....I will buy with cautious.

So, itchy itchy want to play O&G stocks. But most of it can't make money. Also, most valued expensive, today's high price doesn't justify its earning during its heyday. (a bit rough, but since i don't buy, nvm lah)
