‘EC admits to knowing about dubious voters’

PETALING JAYA: The Selangor Election Commission is aware that Umno has registered numerous dubious voters in the state, claimed DAP MP Charles Santiago today

The Klang MP said this was revealed to him by Selangor EC director Dzulkifli Abdul Rahman when the duo met when Santiago had gone there to report the case of one S Dinesh from his constituency.

“Dinesh has been residing in the UK for the past 15 years, yet his name was registered without his consent last year,” said Santiago.

Dinesh was registered by the former Umno assistant registrar Hishamuddin Kassim, who was sacked from his post on April 27.

Santiago said that when he questioned Dzulkifli on how many people Hishamuddin had registered, the EC director replied, “Many”........

With reference to the U.S. campaign on “Warn against Terror”, Tun concluded that the irony was that the same people who indulged in mass killings were the ones who were critical of Malaysia's capital punishment reserved for those trafficking drugs as well as murderers.

Ironic indeed, the same person who has been preaching about “money politics” used corrupted means to rig elections and cling on to power for 22 years, looting wealth for himself, his family and his cronies at the expense of the taxpayers.

What then would be the suitable punishment, for hypocrites who sold out millions of citizenship to illegals with the intention to stay in power?

Malam tadi semasa keluar minum dengan seorang teman (yang insya-Allah akan bertanding dalam pilihan raya akan datang) saya terserempak dengan salah seorang Jeneral (B) askar yang baru menyertai PKR. Bersamanya anggota tiga Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) yang menjadi penggerak acara Sumpah Pemuda yang digerakkan oleh bek...as ketua AMK yang kini sudah menjadi usang dan sedang memakan hati berulam jantung dalam Umno.

Pemuda berkenaan bertanya saya secara terus terang mengenai situasi negara hari ini dan iklim politik kontemporari. Dia mahu saya menjawab secara jujur sebagai seorang pencerat dan penulis politik kerdil. "Abang bagaimana pandangan abang mengenai situasi keseluruhannya?" Soal beliau.

"Maksudnya dalam PKR atau pun keseluruhan negara?" tanya saya inginkan kepasti dari sisi mana yang diingini.

"Seluruh negara, kedudukan terkini?" katanya menjelaskan isi maksud persoalannya. Saya melihat kepada Jeneral yang baru berkubang dalam politik itu. Saya tidak mahu dia terkejut dengan jawaban saya yang boleh mengjungkitkan punggungnya. Semangatnya untuk menumbangkan UBN jangan pula terjejas dengan jawaban saya. Saya pula suka berterus terang walaupun cara itu tidak disenangi. Bagi saya berterus terang lebih baik dari segala-galanya.

DAP likes to tell the Chinese they are marginalised. The poverty rate of the Chinese is still lowest among three major races. Employment rates the highest. Property ownership largest. Cannot deny in the implementaion process there are people who benefit more than others, this is the bone of contention, causes a lot of Chinese to be angry with the government and MCA bears the burden of this.

DAP tries to portray itself as a multiracial party, but only dares to contest in Chinese constituencies.

Why don't the DAP contest in multiracial constituencies? We are a mono-ethnic party, but our aims are clear.

In this country we have to balance the needs and sensitivities of all countries. No particular race will feel happy.

Pakatan Rakyat policies will cause a “painful” shock for the stock market but the successful implementation will have long-term positive impact on the whole economy, TA Research said.

“If these measures (proposed by Pakatan) are able to produce the intended or promised results, it would be long-term positive for the economy as well as the capital market.

However, it noted, a strong mandate for BN would allow Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to “crack the whip to quash internal revolts against (the) change process and produce good results”.

This would be a positive for the economy, it said, as the Najib-led Economic Transformation Programme had driven tremendous growth in private investment in the country.

Terming the general election the biggest risk of the second quarter, the research house nonetheless expects the BN to win 120 to 125 seats in Parliament, leaving it with a slimmer majority compared to 2008, while status quo is expected in Selangor and Perak, with Negri Sembilan hanging in the balance and could spring surprises.

“A narrow win for Barisan Nasional (BN) is likely to lead to a leadership challenge within Umno as some old guards are already raising the ante for heads to roll if the victory is less inspiring than 2008.

“Thus, do not expect a major run-up in the index although anticipate the all-time high of 1,699 being taken out,” it said.

JOHOR BARU, April 3 ― Pakatan Rakyat (PR) replied to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s attacks on its leaders, linking his son Datuk Mokhzani Mahathir’s riches to cronyism in a ceramah here last night as the battle heats up for the Umno bastion.

The country’s longest-serving prime minister had told Johor folk to end the political careers of PR leaders, especially DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang who is contesting in Gelang Patah here in Election 2013. Kit Siang is heading the opposition pact’s assault of Johor in the general election that will be called any day now.

“The Petronas advisor is Dr Mahathir; Dr Mahathir’s son, Mokhzani Mahathir, is among the richest people in Malaysia. Does he think his son is the only Malay around?” PKR secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail told some 2,000 people at Kampung Datuk Sulaiman Menteri in the historic Kampung Melayu Majidee area here.

This is the second ceramah by top PR leaders in as many weeks in Kampung Melayu Majidee, reflecting their efforts to beat the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN), after their successes of winning Selangor and Penang in Election 2008.

“Why does Dr Mahathir hate Anwar, Lim Kit Siang and Abdul Hadi? ... because they are the new hope.

“Why is Mahathir angry? This isn’t his time anymore, because he knows if we can change, not only Mahathir but even his children are finished,” DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said at the same ceramah.

“Dr Mahathir’s son is the 13th richest person in Malaysia,” said the Penang chief minister, who is also Kit Siang’s son.

Mokhzani is part owner and vice-president of Sapura Kencana Petroleum Bhd, an oil-and-gas (O&G) specialist that has been awarded a RM836 million risk production contract by national oil company Petronas Bhd.

With RM11.85 billion in assets, Sapura Kencana is one of the world’s top (O&G) service support players by asset base. It has also started venturing into other oil-producing companies such as Kazakhstan.

In his speech on Sunday at a people’s housing scheme organised by Pulai Umno chief Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed, Dr Mahathir spoke at length about opposition leaders, including his former deputy Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim whom he said had cheated him by appearing to be pious while in Umno and BN.

He also criticised the other PR leaders, including PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat, saying they refused to “change” by still contesting in elections although they have been in politics for a long time.

Dr Mahathir said BN had changed six prime ministers since ruling the nation from independence in 1957 but PAS and DAP were still being led by the same people and did not give opportunities to the younger generation and second-liners to take leadership roles.

Meanwhile, Anwar named four candidates for parliamentary seats in Johor last night, including former Army chief Tan Sri Jeneral (B) Md Hashim Husin, for the Johor Baru seat.

The others are former Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia (ABIM) leader Datuk Idris Jauzi for Batu Pahat, Nor Izwan Mohamad for Muar, while PKR deputy secretary-general Steven Choong will contest in Tebrau.

Anwar also spoke in Masai near here last night, but the Kampung Melayu Majidee ceramah was the biggest event in the middle of the state capital Johor Baru.

His speech was interrupted by singing from a BN event held just 50 metres away, but he continued on.

JOHOR BAHARU 3 APRIL: Sekumpulan samseng Umno mempersenda lagu Negaraku semata-mata mahu mengganggu ucapan pemimpin Pakatan Rakyat terutama Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“Sebab lagu Negaraku, saya berhenti sekejap,” kata Ketua Umum KEADILAN itu apabila lagu itu berkumandang, malah turut menyanyi bersama-sama pemimpin dan penyokong Pakatan.
Sebaik saja meneruskan ucapan pada program Jelajah Merdeka Rakyat di Kampung Datuk Sulaiman Menteri di sini, malam tadi, sekitar 20 samseng Umno memutar semula lagu kebangsaan itu berulang kali.
... “Saya hormat (lagu) Negaraku tapi ini sudah jadi mainan mereka (Umno),” kata Anwar sebelum meneruskan ucapan.
Kejadian sama lebih awal berlaku terhadap Lim Guan Eng apabila lagu Negaraku dipermain untuk mengganggu ceramah Setiausaha Agung DAP itu.
Guan Eng juga menghentikan ucapan apabila lagu itu kedengaran, sebaliknya samseng Umno terus memasang semula lagu berkenaan beberapa kali.

Lebih 2,000 hadirin menggeleng-geleng kepala menyaksikan pelakuan tidak senonoh itu, malah ada tertawa melihatkan perangai kebudak-budakan itu.
Samseng Umno berselindung di sebalik program ‘Malam Mesra’ kira-kira 50 meter dari lokasi ceramah.
Mereka turut memutar beberapa lagu lain termasuk lagu rasmi Umno dengan kuat dan menghala pembesar suara ke tapak ceramah sepanjang program itu.
Samseng Umno juga berbuat bising, terjerit-jerit memaki hamun dan menghambur kata-kata kesat sambil mengibar bendera Umno dan BN.
Anggota polis yang berkawal pula dilihat tidak berbuat apa-apa untuk menghentikan provokasi berterusan itu.
