In Australia, oldtown has positioned itself as a premium restaurant, more premium than pappa rich. But yet in Malaysia, it is positioned as affordable. This will likely cause brand confusion. I suspect they will also go for premium positioning in China.

kchia & Junyu - i didnt mention anyone ya!haha~
soojinhou - thank you for your information, positioned itself as premium restaurant in overseas only can increase profit & profit margin and build up brand name but not in Malaysia.

if u all in in oldtown,i am sure u will be sent to holland very soon. what a bad result, and still say good. the cafe chain operation will drag down the profit no matter how good bm will be. the qr cant beat qoq. the share price ady so high, eps only 3. price is so volatile and recent sell down by franklin. i can only say good luck to u

It only my opinion, the food price a bit high. Meal/set almost RM20.
For me, it not worth.

I like their Roti kahwin with thick cold butter & kaya.
But, their service very slow, bad impression .
Wait for 10min, no one cleaning the table .

If you look at it. .the increase is in defer tax..it means previously some if the revenue or income or expenses that used to be tax exempt is not approved and thus oldtown need to pay back in this quarter..it will not be a recurring tax

Oldtown can not survive long in malaysia . But i found it can still expand transit its business chain to China .

Thanks digidigi~ :)
RainT-cheaper price stock doesnt mean good or can rise more. That is a very wrong mindset.
but I didn't say BJFOOD not good la. It's true that Starbucks have stronger brand name BUT can Malaysia's Starbucks or BJFOOD sell their Starbucks overseas? Maybe one day OLDTOWN can become "Starbucks in China"? Which has much more bigger market potential! As I know, overseas like US and Australia, they also dont have very good comment on theirs Starbucks too, like what Malaysians we see on our country OLDTOWN!

Everyone please focus on OLDTOWN Manufacturing of Beverages (FMCG) segment, that is a much more excited things that you should see on OLDTOWN! BIGGER MARKET & HIGHER PROFIT MARGIN and It is growing rapidly!

twot is OldTown M'sia stock and not China(sorry I see many Chinese words above and not understand)? I see their M'sia business getting worse. In my home town some outlets were closed. Sorry I am newbie so need to ask.

no surprise more outlets closing because the food quality is getting worse than the day it open for biz.

buy Oldtown for its FMCG biz especially in China/HK market. Let's treat cafe as distribution point & promote brand awareness tool.

Oldtown's strategy is to use its cafe division to build branding. They don't mind making thin margins there because they can make back much more in the FMCG segment with their established branding.
