Example why stock re-sales:

Resales of Treasury Stock

Now imagine that the company sells those same shares out of treasury stock. Say it gets $35 for each share, for a total of $3,500. The first thing it does is increase the cash balance on the asset side by $3,500. Then it accounts for the transaction in the equity section. First, it reduces treasury stock, but only by $3,000 -- not the full $3,500. When shares come out of treasury stock, the effect on the account balance has to be the same as when they went in, which in this case was $3,000. The company accounts for the rest of the $3,500 sale by increasing the common stock account by $500. The balance sheet is balanced again. On one side, cash has risen by $3,500; on the other, treasury stock has declined by $3,000 (which increases equity by that amount) and common stock has risen by $500, for a net increase in equity of $3,500.

I think REDTONE would like to balance their balance sheet only. What u think?

shareholders' equity will rise by the difference between the sales proceeds and purchase amount.This benefits all shareholders because shareholders’ equity represents the accounting value of the total stake of all shareholders in the company
