KUALA LUMPUR: Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia (SPRM) sedang menyiasat seorang bekas perdana menteri dan menantunya berhubung kontrak kerajaan.

Sumber SPRM berkata, siasatan tertumpu kepada kemungkinan salah guna kuasa berlaku dalam pemberian kontrak bagi projek Sistem Imigresen Bersepadu Nasional (NIISe).

"SPRM sedang melihat proses pemberian kontrak itu diberikan dan kaitan syarikat berkenaan dengan mereka yang berkuasa pada masa itu," katanya.

Terdapat maklumat yang menyatakan NIISe, sebuah projek yang sedang dibangunkan untuk menggantikan mekanisme pendaftaran pekerja asing sedia ada oleh Jabatan Imigresen menjelang 2025 adalah projek yang bermasalah.

Semakan ke laman web jabatan itu menunjukkan 'Pasukan Projek Khas NIISe' dipertanggungjawabkan kepada seorang pegawai tadbir dan diplomatik, Ruslan Atan.

"SPRM mungkin akan memanggil anggota kanan pentadbiran terdahulu sebagai sebahagian daripada siasatannya," kata sumber itu.

Pada Isnin lalu, New Straits Times melaporkan Ketua Pengarah Imigresen, Datuk Khairul Dzaimee Daud berkata, NIISe akan diperkenalkan dalam masa dua tahun dengan semua urusan berkaitan imigresen, termasuk yang kini diuruskan pihak luar seperti MyEG, kembali kepada jabatan itu.

Beliau berkata, sistem baharu itu kini sedang dibangunkan oleh Iris Corporation Bhd.

Sebelum ini, Ahli Majlis Tertinggi UMNO, Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi pernah berkata, menantu bekas perdana menteri itu mungkin saudara yang tidak dinamakan seperti disebut Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim ketika beliau bercakap mengenai kroni dan saudara yang dianugerahkan kontrak yang lumayan.

Menantu pemimpin itu juga dinamakan dalam laporan media sebelum ini sebagai antara seorang pemain utama dalam kontrak untuk NIISe.

Beliau juga disebut secara meluas dalam Program Pengampunan 6P jabatan itu beberapa tahun lalu untuk mendaftarkan warga asing tanpa izin.

In an unexpected turn of event, Iris announced last Friday (Feb 10), the disposal of its 80% stake in IITS to Tass Tech Technologies Sdn Bhd (TTTSB) — a wholly owned unit of Tass Tech (M) Sdn Bhd — for RM70 million cash. The proceeds will be used for the group’s working capital and any future business expansion, it said.

Raja Muhammad Badiuzzaman Raja Chulan, the director of TTTSB, holds a 20% stake in Tass Tech (M) Sdn Bhd, while the remaining 80% stake is held by another director named Shukor Ahmed.

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 16): Bursa Malaysia has launched Bursa Connectivity Services, a universal connectivity solution that allows global users access to the exchange’s pool of data quickly and seamlessly.

"Bursa Connectivity Services connects buy- and sell-sides, information vendors as well as third-party solution providers. Fast connectivity is a key component in an exchange ecosystem," the exchange said in a statement.

It added that the product provides coverage across more than 900 data centres in 32 countries spanning across Asia, Europe and the US.

"With this solution in place, users will be able to create new financial products, analyse trading opportunities and meet the growing demand of investors," said Bursa Malaysia.

Its chief executive officer Datuk Muhamad Umar Swift added: “This new initiative will establish a larger pool of international investors for Bursa Malaysia. It will allow more global investors greater access to our market, breaking down barriers and allowing for a more seamless flow of insights resulting in increased investor interest.”

He noted that in 2021, Bursa Malaysia contributed US$200 billion to global total trading value.

“With this new connectivity solution, we will be more visible to the global market as our data will be more readily available and accessible, thus enabling improved trade flow,” he added.

Director of Bursa Intelligence Wong Chiun Chiek said that over the past three years, Bursa Malaysia’s data business had evolved from managing data ‘as-a-business’ to a more strategic mandate using data and digital capabilities.

“This newly acquired capability will boost our ambition to diversify business channels and reach new client segments. This opportunity also serves as a new non-trading revenue source for the exchange,” he added.

Bursa Connectivity Services complements the exchange’s expanding services and capabilities such as investors behaviour analytics, market and stocks-level sentiments.

It targets researchers and brokerage firms, analytics platforms for retail and institutional investors, and digital platforms for corporate investor relations.

“Instead, we need bold measures (much beyond the scope of the budget) to rebuild a pro-investment ecosystem. I am actually in favour of a tax reform which reduces income tax and reintroduce the goods and services tax (GST). Furthermore, enforcement should be strengthen and special schemes for small and microbusinesses should be introduced” he said.
