KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 15): RHB Research expects Kelington Group Bhd (KL:KGB) to deliver another quarter of strong earnings, on the back of a solid order book.

“We expect the strong year-on-year/quarter-on-quarter growth in revenue and core earnings to continue, supported by a solid RM1.3 billion order book (as of end-March) and favourable product mix”, RHB said in a note on Thursday. KGB is slated to announce its results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2024 (2QFY2024) on Aug 21.

“We gather that new job wins exceeded RM500 million in the first half ended June 30, 2024 (1HFY2024), with the majority coming from China, where tenders were aplenty," RHB added.

Despite the decline in revenue in 2Q2024, gross profit increased by 21%, rising from RM46.0 million in 2Q2023 to RM55.5 million. This significant improvement in the gross profit margin, which increased to 17.3% from 10.8% in 2Q2023, was primarily driven by changes in revenue composition and a favorable project mix, as well as the contribution from industrial gases division. Additionally, PBT and PAT for the current quarter showed robust growth, each expanding by 34% compared to 2Q2023.

see two macro picture


1. In Peninsular (West Malaysia )

there is a 52% diesel price rise

as such all industries will be impacted by a corresponding rise of 5% to as high as 30%

these will see higher cost

1. property
2. construction
3. construction material
4.logistic that send goods by lorry or ships

5. consumer food and drink which are bulky

6. Toll road owners
as lorries now see higher operation cost by 52% they will make less trip so less collections from till


others




2. By Nov 2024 if Trump gets elected he will impose 10% tariff (tax) for all and for China it will be 60% tariff

so all industries related to export to USA will be hit

two things will hit all


a universal price rise caused by rise of diesel 52%

a universal tariff by USA from 10% to 60%


that is why it is of utmost safety to go invest in East Malaysia stocks which got no 52% diesel rise there

and palm oil export is more to India and China (not USA)

gohkimhock, thats what i think too. From their last report they did mention that some works are at completion and in transition to new projects so the lower quarter. But i think most traders prefer to switch to faster growing stock base on their QR. This probably means that unless there is external catalyst news in semicon (perhaps NVIDIA result) this counter should remain bearing until next QR. As for me i think this counter has alot of growth opportunity in 2H 2024 - 2025, but like they say a good company doesnt mean a good investment, its only a good investment if bought at the right price. so DCA perhaps?

Malaysian Ringgit is strengthening against other major currency especially USD is a good news to Malaysian stock market.
The Malaysian export increased by 12.3% in July 2024 compared against July 2023.
The GDP growth for Q2 2024 is 5.9%.
The foreign funds were net buyers accounted for RM 1.693 billion from 16/8/2024 to 22/8/2024.

All these news will attract foreign investors to invest in KLSE.
These news will make our KLSE into a bull market.

However, based on TA, technology index is bearish.
If the Federal Reserve reduces interest rate in September 2024, the reduction in interest rate will benefit technology stocks.
I believe the correction in technology stock is at the tail end, just be a bit patience to wait.
Bull market will come soon.

I believe the Federal Reserve will reduce interest rate in September 2024.
Please note that I have done an analysis on KLSE performance after the Federal Reserve reduced interest rate in 2001 and 2007.
KLSE performed very well after the Federal Reserve reduced interest rate in 2001 and 2007. Hence I believe KLSE will be in a bull market after September 2024.

Frankly speaking, if you were to ask me, I don't see anything wrong with the quarterly results. Revenue are still above the RM300 mil mark. The net profit posted was very nice. Almost 40% increase. Check back the history and you will know this is the 3rd best quarterly results ever. KGB is on the right trajectory and poised for further growth.
