Today AMMB stock moves somewhat confirmed that the price downtrend is over.Price recovery is in work now.
2.The %K reading is 3.9598 which is above the %D reading at 1.58438(Or Signal Line) on the fast Stochastic Oscillator and RSI.
2.Also the MACD line reading at -0.0400 shows it is slowly converging on the Signal line on the MACD chart. If that happens the price uptrend will be even stronger.

Outcome: Good for those forumers who owned AMMB shares. The selling is very much overdone. But hope the global development stay neutral and supportive of the global stocks and equities.

@nicky well such price trend and move is very common to many Bursa stocks and shares.During price downturn holders of the stocks can get very emotional and throw.Conversely, when the price recovered investors wait and see. They are not sure whether the upturn is on and intact. That explained why down 30 cents but up only 3 cents. To know the market moves on the stock try to look it at one year time period.
2.Well,today Technical Price Charts give a stronger buy signal for the stock.RSI stochastic reading on %K is firming up and moving ahead of the %D(The Signal Line). Likewise MACD line is slowly converging on the Signal Line. The difference between the two is only -0.0299.
3.Today bought at 4.34 to average down my price.
Hopefully when day by day the buying momentum is gaining strength and pave the way for firm recovery.
Cheers.

Sure the Chinese would see value in acquiring it as they can have immediate distributing banking network in Malaysia. However, the BN has been under so much pressure and criticism for bringing in the much needed Chinese capital. And they have been accused for inviting "Chinese invasion" by the Pakatan. Hence I don't think they want to attract unnecessary criticism by letting go of a Bumi controlled bank to a Chinese bank at this juncture. Perhaps, after the GE14 is over and done with.

Just Epf trading tactic----very effective if you got money like epf's pocket....BB push down to collect
and then push up to sell and run......But epf just stomp and stomp the price down, I think at 4.30

IMHO... ANZ and AH is looking to dispose at 2 x book values... but KWAP and its alliances are smarter... press down the price kaw2... the most i think they are willing to pay is not more than RM 7.1-7.4 range

gcke

@JJchan,ANZ cannot just dispose their present equity stake in AMMB in the open market.
2.For such disposal they have to get the consent of the Central Bank which is Bank Negara. They also need the support of Azman Hashim as the next second largest shareholder in AMMB.
3.ANZ previously bought the stake at~ 1.97 book value.
4.When in share investing one has to keep the emotion under control.Whether in bullish or bearish time for the stock.Keep the mind focussed on the stock that you have invested after doing own read-up about the company.
5.To get the correct picture, read the archived news report on the matter.

ANZ is not desperate to sell cheap. Of course, it's interested to sell at good/ fair price. No reason to sell a controlling stake in profitable bank entity below its NTA. With decent dividend, Ambank is still a 'cash cow' to ANZ. Small investor cannot bear the price drop will certainly sell... Traders that fear loss of opportunity in another rising stock, will dump as well for their cash flow...... KWSP, KWAP can buy cheap from open market...

Another good news from ECB.Another uncertainty on the direction of ECB monetary policy can also be removed. With such news flow coming in September it helps in lifting and boosting markets' sentiments.Low global interest rates is good for global equities.Risk is back barring any negative news from North East Asia.On the 9 September 2017, North Korea is marking the anniversary of the country's founding day.

PublicInvest TP RM 5.4.

AMMB - Business As Usual
Date: 25/08/2017

Source : PUBLIC BANK
Stock : AMBANK Price Target : 5.40 | Price Call : TRADING BUY
Last Price : 4.31 | Upside/Downside : +1.09 (25.29%)

Back

The Group has started off its new financial year on a relatively subdued note, though 1QFY18 net profit of RM328.3m (+1.6% YoY, -2.2% QOQ) came in within expectations, making up 23.3% of our and consensus full-year estimates. No particular surprises were seen its operational numbers, as higher net interest income (+8.4% YoY) was driven by improved lending growth. The recent breakdown in merger talks has been a dampener on share price performance, likely due to concerns over reported contingent liability-related issues which management has duly refuted as normal in its ordinary course of business. While still early days, the Group is starting to see some momentum in its Top 4 growth aspirations. We retain our Trading Buy on AMMB Holdings for its medium-term earnings prospects, with an unchanged target price of RM5.40. We see it as a buy for the longer-term given the relatively lower base it is coming from given recent years’ of balance sheet de-risking, pockets of weakness notwithstanding.

Loans growth (+6.6% YoY, +2.0% QoQ) picked up pace during the quarter largely due to on-going expansion in its mortgage segment (+21.9% YoY, +4.7% QoQ). Management’s improved outlook on the country’s economic growth is reflected in business-related loans (working capital) growing 3.5% QoQ. Once the largest provider of hire purchase loans (-6.9% YoY, -1.3% QoQ), the Group now only has an estimated 11+% market share.
Net interest margin (NIM) slipped 4bps to 2.02% on a QoQ basis largely due to a hike in funding costs during the quarter. Portfolio rebalancing and asset re pricing efforts saw margins improve 6bps though tempered by pressures in the retail segment (in both the asset and liability space) which set NIMs back 10bps. We remain wary over the competitive space the Group is headed into as part of its transformative process, one which various other financial groups are similarly targeting in their own aspirations, hence the higher possibilities of limited successes though we are cautiously optimistic.
While management continues to stress that there are no significant signs of stress in the formation of new non-performing loans as most, if not all, are sufficiently collateralized, we are slightly troubled over its vulnerabilities to big-ticket exposures which are being highlighted as causes the recent asset quality travails. The incidence of a huge RM612.2m in new non-performing loans in 4QFY17 has been followed up with RM449.7m this current 1QFY18, with a notable increase in the manufacturing sector.

this is a great year for my stock selections. krono, cepat, leonfb, ifca, frontkn, serbadk :) Didnt really bother about TA and just look at their fundamentals.

And now the next gem will be Ambank. PE below 10 while Maybank, CIMB, HLB, PBB all trading above 14x. Improving quarter by quarter and with Dato Sulaiman (who spearhead the rise of CIMB consumer banking) on board. Negative sentiments about 1mdb and demerger shouldnt overshadow its fundamentals.

Even latest reports by HLG, Kenanga and PBB made strong buy calls. It's just a matter of time. Malaysia market will detached from the negative sentiments outside. My 2 cents is Ambank is a gem.
