Australian coal exporters are facing the risk of tougher restrictions selling into China as government authorities in Beijing direct state-owned power plants to purchase domestic product instead.

The move threatens to add to escalating tensions between Australia and its largest trading partner and follows new customs reforms that analysts fear could lead China to delay cargoes of Australia's most lucrative export, iron ore.

Timing to go in is not right. Currently covid 19 cases already exceeded 5m and death toll is on 333k. So far only 2m cured and 3m+ still struggling and based on the spreading rate I afraid to say that the death toll will reach more than "half a million"
Even though Malaysia successfully control the outbreak it is pointless as they can't fully reopens the economy due to many countries still spreads like mad cow.
The travel, tourist and some businesses still will struggle to death at the end.
Japan already announced if the virus still drags for 4-6 months time estimated 40+% of their country newly setup business will goes down and the truth is the virus definitely will still be here for another few month.

Management already made known about the large provisions during their conference call on 28/4/20.

https://klse.i3investor.com/servlets/ptres/55028.jsp

O&G impairments: RM1bn provisions – Management guided two major loans to oil & gas (O&G) trading companies will likely see full provisions totaling ~RM1bn.

More O&G provision top-up. The oil & gas loan portfolio, which makes up 2.3% of total lending is set to drag bottom-line (30% of this are impaired and loss coverage is 80%). So far, we gathered 2 accounts here got hit by fraud and seem unsalvageable. Hence, CIMB intends to provide 100% loss for both bad loans (one in 1Q20 and the other likely in 2Q20); from our channel checks, these could amount close to RM1b.

It’s good that they Include the provision separately in few quarters rather than one time provision

The bank’s provisions at RM968mil during the first quarter, which was mainly contributed by its Singapore operations, are almost double its net profit.

On a year-on-year comparison, CIMB’s provisions were triple the amount during the corresponding quarter last year at RM300mil.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

They made additional 668M provision verses 1Q19.
The 1Q profit without this additional provision will result a net profit 1.175B, which is commendable.

Similarly when bad news about company performance with down trend share price we sell. This intelligent movement jump in good news and jump out at bad news can be done by a trained monkey.

Hin leong & hin top exposure almost fully provided with its latest cimb provision of Rm 920m for march quarter.

Despite this huge provision cimb still makes more than rm 500m profit mah....!!

Remember cimb provided Rm 920m compare with Pbank only provided Rm 60m, this means cimb is aggressive and prudent in front loading its forseeable losses...leading to better performance in the future mah..!!

I think can look into it positively loh..!

Agree with you that from Bursa announcememt recently EPF & KWAP have been accumilating Cimb shares.Recently Khazanah Nasional & Urusharta Jamaah investment arm of Ministry Of Finance having been cutting down their stakes in many PLC  as part of its on-going overall portfolio restructuring..As from Bursa annoucement havent seen Khazanah increase their stakes in Cimb.

https://www.malaymail.com/news/malaysia/2019/10/23/why-did-khazanah-lose-rm6.3b-in-2018-new-policy-strategy-and-financial-repo/1802907

The news provided by media maybe can help us to understand a bit why Khazanah have been reducing their stakes in some PLC in equity to avoid exposure to higher risk of investment.

Aiyo...why so difficult !!!......

Today only Monday...still holiday...tomorrow only Tuesday....still holiday...

Just simple only...Once Bursa open trading on Wednesday....

If CIMB deep below 3.40 then start to sapu....

How to trade???...

If the price reach......

3.40 buy @ 2 lots

3.35 buy @ 2 lots

3.30 buy @ 2 lots

3.25 buy @ 2 lots

3.20 buy @ 2 lots

Average cost of 10 lots by 3.30

If rebound back gradually then....

3.30 sell @ 1 lot

3.35 sell @ 1 lot

3.40 sell @ 1 lot

3.45 sell @ 1 lot

3.50 sell @ 1 lot

Average disposal of 5 lots by 3.40

## So now you average cost of 5 lot

1) 3.40 - 3.30 = 0.10 x 5 lots = 0.50

2) 5 lots x 3.30 = 16.50 - 0.50 (from profit) = 16.00

3) now average cost of 5 lots = 16.00 / 5 lots = 3.20

## Of course only assumption how to leverage your cost for long term value investment lahhh....(need to deduct the brokerage fee & other miscellaneous lahhh...)

&&& This method still can repeating a few times transactions, so long as the stock like to "Swing"......kekeke...kekeke...

If scare to buy Cimb...then buy ABMB lorrr....(Keyman188 still holding @ 1.55 cost...kekeke...kekeke...)

ABMB no need impairment loss on energy biz because management is not granted...kekeke...kekeke...

Or maybe PBB also can mahhh....If feel expensive then...

Or maybe Ambank also not bad...every time go down to 2.90 then strong support...later swing back above 3.00 ~ 3.05....

Sure not scare to loss much lorrr...........kekeke...kekeke....

Hong Kong police fired tear gas and water cannon to disperse thousands of people who rallied on Sunday to protest against Beijing's plan to impose a new national security law on the semi-autonomous city.

In a return of the unrest that roiled Hong Kong last year, crowds thronged the Causeway Bay shopping area in defiance of curbs imposed to contain the coronavirus. Chants of "Hong Kong independence, the only way out" echoed through the streets.

Why bank will do well despite poor economics condition ??

People are saying banks will suffer from sub prime loan, interest morotarium, interest cut etc....but do u know bank is a defensive investment leh ??

Why leh ??

1. U borrow from the bank the bank ask u about your income, then they ask u to put 20% to 25# of deposits on the assets b4 the bank will lend u loh..!!

2. After u have been servicing your loan for sometime, suddenly u got hid by mco....u got pay cut....u appeal the bank to restructure your loan portfolio ?
The bank will look at your loan with security coverage 1.4 to 1.0...he will say yes restructure your loan but u must sign this and that and pays your instalment longer...that means longer term repayment...u actually more interest....the bank make monies mah...!!

3. Say after another 6 mths your company bungkus and start retrenching...u get some retrenchment monies say 6 months of your salary...u again approach the bank for help. The bank ask u how much cash you have and how much u can contribute loh ??
U show the bank your retrenchment monies...the bank say ok u contribute 30% of your monies...they will give u a instalment holiday for 3 months then 3 months later u start a new instalment plan at 25% lower from existing instalment....that means your loan is extended longer another few more years. For the banks still make monies from u loh..!!

4. 6 months later u approach the bank again...u tell them u cannot...tahan servicing...u still have not get a job...the bank say will give u 3 months grace...but will charge u penalty interest..after that they will lelong your property.

5. U run around borrow from father, mother, brother, sister u pay the bank all the interest and instalment in arrears including penalty interest loh...!!

6. U still keep up servicing your instalment...but sometime behind 1 to 2 month instalment....when it hit 3 mths the bank give u lawyer warning letter threathening to foreclosure. But u cannot afford to pay...so the bank lelong your properties........they recover principal...rm 300k, interest plus penalty interest rm 40k and legal and lelong fees of rm 15k.....all charge to your account....after offsetting your property proceeds....there is a shortfall of rm 20k....the bank still sue u personally for the balance with interest.
U meet the bank....the bank says u pay rm 600 every month...the interest pa is 7.5% pa...u already get a lower pay job now staying with parent..so u continue payment....notice the bank still make monies from u loh...!!

7. Thats is how banking model work mah...u need to die 1st b4...the bank suffer loh...!!

Posted by stockraider > May 26, 2020 11:35 AM | Report Abuse

Looking at the bank model....as a bank shareholders, u r safe and very happy loh...!!

Everybody work hard paying for the bank loan 1st mah...!!

After your hardwork u really still cannot pay...the bank sell your assets mah..!!

But after selling your assets, they still go after u for any shortfall loh...!!

U still need to repay the lower balance shortfall with higher interest rates by instalment bcos it is unsecured loan loh...!!

U like this type of business or not leh ??

Warren buffet like this very much mah...!!
