After the budget, everybody seems like run away from Bursa, but EPF keeps on buying and embracing it, are they something wrong?

In last October, Bursa has an extra income of RM68 mil due to the disposal of CME shares on the US Nasdaq. If this amount is incorporated into their 4Q, this will be fantastic. Let's see.

Posted by MakeitGrow > 2021-11-24 13:39 | Report Abuse

9M 2021 Bursa ADVT was 3.89 bil, not far away from FY2020 4.2bil. (2017: 2.3bil, 2018: 2.4bil, 2019: 1.9 bil).

Posted by MakeitGrow > 2021-11-24 13:41 | Report Abuse

YTD (9M) Bursa has earned EPS 35.90 sen, just 11 sen short from FY2020 EPS of 46.80. If 4Q EPS can achieve 11 sen, then it is equal to last year (one of the best years).

Posted by MakeitGrow > 2021-11-24 13:43 | Report Abuse

Oct 2021 ADVT: 3.1 bil, Nov 2021 MTD ADVT: 2.42 bil, better than 2017,2018 and 2019. Bursa will reverse back to pre-pandemic time?

Bursa have already stated that this figure will not be included in their financial statements. Apparently they have allocated the funds for other purposes within the business. I can't recall what it was for but it is in the company announcements (can't be bothered to check at the moment).

Strong support is at rm6... No point hanging in there my friend..just sell 1st, we can buy back at rm6..

Posted by MakeitGrow > 2021-11-24 16:38 | Report Abuse

Do you think the Bursa management team will just sit quietly to let the disadvantages of the budget devour their share? Or they will work extra hard to find ways to offset these disadvantages?

Posted by MakeitGrow > 2021-11-24 16:42 | Report Abuse

They are quite proactive to deal with SD! I personally have faith in them.

Posted by MakeitGrow > 2021-11-24 16:50 | Report Abuse

I will gradually buy at a low price now and wait until the 4Q release, then only decide the next move. By then I will know how efficient the Bursa management team is.

Posted by vcpmaster123 > 2021-11-24 16:51 | Report Abuse

The future earnings in fy2022 doesn't warrant a valuation of above RM6 for Bursa....

Posted by MakeitGrow > 2021-11-24 16:53 | Report Abuse

Who knows, perhaps there is a surprise in the 4Q report! Hahaha...

Posted by vcpmaster123 > 2021-11-24 17:37 | Report Abuse

That's just pure hope....no indication at all that the trading interest will come back to Bursa Malaysia market..

Posted by MakeitGrow > 2021-11-24 20:59 | Report Abuse

Let's see in Jan 2022 when Bursa announces the final dividend.

Posted by MakeitGrow > 2021-11-24 21:43 | Report Abuse

From 2006 to 2020 nearly 15 years range, Bursa experienced 5 times of sharp drop in share price due to various reasons (domestic and foreign factors)
1. on 27 Mar 2009: RM 2.29
2. on 24 Jul 2009: RM 3.34
3. on 10 Dec 2010: RM 3.56
4. on 10 Jun 2016: RM 3.91
5. on 20 Mar 2020: RM 4.70
There is a pattern of "Higher Low", meaning each later low was higher than the previous one. And each time after the sharp dip, it will rebound again strongly to the higher price.
So this time (at present) if the price doesn't break 2020 lowest at RM4.70, it will rebound faster than last year underpinned by the opening from the lockdown, higher GDP in 2022(5.5-6.5%), and stronger KLCI companies earning from 4Q 2021 and thereafter.

Posted by vcpmaster123 > 2021-11-24 23:10 | Report Abuse

The most plausible case is bursa will drop to 5.50 to 6.00 range.. So the clever person will sell now at 6.40 and buy back at 5.50..

Posted by vcpmaster123 > 2021-11-25 09:36 | Report Abuse

Not the end of drop just yet... The hammer candle yesterday signals rebound but then today's volume was not enough to push up the price... False breakout will push the price lower to RM6 which is a stronger support..

Posted by MakeitGrow > 2021-11-25 11:32 | Report Abuse

Nobody can know when it is the bottom. Bursa now is at a good price (PE:13) if compared to its historical PE of 20-25. I think EPF is more clever, gradually buy at a premium price.

Posted by MakeitGrow > 2021-11-25 11:41 | Report Abuse

Technically speaking, Bursa now is in the oversold territory (25.2643) and RSI blue line just crosses above the red line, MACD stick is going shorter, indicating it will be in the upward trend.

@MakeitGrow, your claim of a current PE of 13 is, unfortunately, a mirage. Factually you are correct, when you add the last 4 quarters EPS, however the reality is that those figures include 2 quarters that had EPS of 13 cents and 15 cents......those days are long gone for now.

Current EPS reality is around 10 cents per quarter and forecasts predict it to go lower than the current 10 cents per quarter.

But hey, it's always good to have a contrary viewpoint, so you keep on buying if you are feeling confident that this is a low price point.

All the best.

Hi TreeTopView, I think you’re right in pointing out to MakeitGrow that the disposal proceeds from the CME share sale (initially “exciting news” to small retailers like me) will not have any material impact on the EPS. After the 22/25 Oct 2021 announcement that the remaining balance of 75,250 CME shares were disposed for US$16.37m, the excitement for me has died out ! The entire CME stake sales and the extraordinary gains are not reflected in the SOPL (Statement of Profit and Loss); instead it is reflected in the Retained Earnings in Page 4 of the Condensed Consolidated Financial Statements in the quarterly reports as FVTOCI (Fair Value Through Other Comprehensive Income) :

I attach a screenshot for your convenience. Whilst I can see no excitement in the EPS, I am very hopeful for a bumper dividend payout. Besides the guaranteed Final Dividend, there is now a heightened probability of a generous Special Dividend of at least 8 Sens, perhaps even more 20 Sens as has happened in previous FYs. As before, I’m vested already in Bursa since 2010 ! P/s: hope to see you “consummate” soon don’t let the lady wait wait too long :)

Hi @bullcock, I trust all's well with you and yours.

You mentioned you would like to know if the shorters had stopped yet.....unfortunately for holders, no.

Similar to last week, each day this week they have increased their short positions.

Some sobering figures are the number of shorts during the last 5 or so weeks. Around 5 weeks ago the short position was just under 2 million (can't recall the exact amount), however the current short position has increased to just under 8 million. So approx. 6 million shorted in about a 5 week time frame.

Today's volume is not bad: 3.8 bil, the best since 26 Oct. ADVT 2.42 bil was also one of the best this month. Good sign for the recovery.

Posted by MakeitGrow > 2021-11-25 18:48 | Report Abuse

If Bursa can continue to climb above 6.63 (10 SMA), it would be more certain in the upward beat and the next hurdle would be 6.82 (20 SMA). If crosses 6.82, it will challenge 7.00. By that time, it may be the turn of shorter to run away.

Deep down in your heart you know it will drop to RM6 eventually which is a stronger support..you are choosing to ignore it because you have stakes.. Why not sell now and buy back at 5.50 to 6 in the future?

Merely as a suggestion, I'd be focussing more on the KLCI right now instead of debating whether Bursa can move up to Rm6.80.

The KLCI eventually broke the 1,520 support level yesterday with immediate short term support coming in at 1,510. That level was touched this morning and a mild bounce occurred.

My concern is if 1,510 breaks down and then we head to 1,490. That is a possibility in the current overall market, IMO.

The only small glimmer of hope is that the fund managers decide to do some window dressing sometime during December, however I think it would be short lived and met with more selling eventually.

Perhaps a time to sit back and take a deep breath and look at the overall economy and market sentiment.

Have a great day :)

Karma4444, this variant appears to be of greater concern.....*sigh*

"This variant did surprise us, it has a big jump on evolution [and] many more mutations that we expected," he said.

In a media briefing Prof de Oliveira said there were 50 mutations overall and more than 30 on the spike protein, which is the target of most vaccines and the key the virus uses to unlock the doorway into our body's cells.
