As of March 31, RWG had opened 5,200 hotel rooms with average occupancy rates at 88% in the first quarter ended March 31, 2022 (1Q22). Genting Malaysia indicated that it was progressively ramping up capacity for its hotels, casino and theme park in 2Q22.

According to HLIB Research’s ground checks, the casino capacity had increased as the restriction on the number of players per table had been lifted. The research house noted that the footfalls observed in the casino were also very encouraging.

Malaysia now all open. Genting now is given free bus to Genting for June and July.
Hotel room almost fully book. Theme Park open.

Q2 result going to be better than Q1 2022.
Q3 onward could be even better.

Question: With high borrowings and current environment of increasing interest rates, please explain the impact of increasing interest rate to the profit/loss and the strategy in minimising the impact.
Answer: The Group’s debt profile constitutes largely of fixed rate borrowings of around 79% of the total debt portfolio while the remainder is on floating basis. Hence, the impact from a rising interest rate environment is manageable and further allayed with the Group’s robust management of the interest rate exposures.
