I don't understand why you guys need to have a stock pick contest at the beginning of the year. You can't pick stocks just on new year's day. Maximizing gains is all about timing, buying at the right time and selling at the right time. If you had bought at a price near the bottom half of the battle is already won.

Contrarian. Contest , the whole point is this. Without timing the mkt, you can perform good also knowing the stock picked are near bottom using value investing method, or whatever method. See kcchongnz? He doing well. It means without buy, sell ,timing the picks, if stocks picked correctly, one still can perform above avg.

Different stocks move at different time. There's an overall market timing and there's specific stock timing.

Blue chips index hasn't moved up much because fresh foreign funds haven't come in yet. Ringgit still down. Market volume has shot up in many, many counters where new 12 months high prices have been breached, obvious sign of syndicates and early days of a bull run.

Morning, and happy valentine to all Insas forumer.
http://www.thesundaily.my/news/2160840 indicating return of 'Foreign investors in strong comeback last week'. Hope this is just not a knee-jerk return as more in-flow will cause a stronger ringgit, thus a stronger bull (hope this is not my bull-shit but bulldozer). Huat together.

Foreign funds who bought last week were those who sold earlier and held on to ringgit. Fresh foreign funds from outside Malaysia have yet to return. When they do, the first stocks to shoot up with be the banks.

Insas ascend will be slow because too many stale bulls bought at above 80 sen level, up to perhaps RM1.30 during 2014-2015 have no confidence and want to exit. Despite the sell down, the warrants show strength with much higher volume despite the huge premium. What does this tell us?

@BLee, engineering approach work on INSAS. quantity of shares is not that much. Reduce the float and share price will up. Also, i think they will initiate share buy back when they need it. Or best scenario, release their treasury share as dividend, like BJcorp. I got 3% additional share recently and i'm happy.

@alooloo, I am comparing Pmetal and Insas. I make more than 100% within a year and missed the 200% less than half a year, thought could buy back after the split. Insas hold for 1.5 years only make >30%. So no matter how you bring out the good point, it depend very much on sentiment, not TA, FA or VA. Pmetal profit went to a losing stock ( not disclosing now), anyway no regret in stock investing.

@ BLee, yeah, this super bull cycle is weird. I don't dare to invest too much in Malaysia as, ultimately, Fed is the one who control the currency rate. If they further tighten, 97 event will occurs again. If stock gain alot, but currency drop like 97, also not much juice left. High risk high gain is great, but i'm rather play safe. Been burned by O&G sector around USD50k last year. Only dare to collect some relatively safer bet, when ringgit is cheap and share price is cheap, like INSAS, BJCORP and GENM in Bursa Malaysia.

It's not a super bull market. The last super bull was in 1993. Back in 1997 currency crisis I managed to buy PBB @ 80 sen. Wish I haven't sold it eventually.

@ TheContrarian, i'm not sure what is it now.... like 97 but not exactly same behaviour. Najib and China add too much change to the equation. China is cultivate an ally (Malaysia). So, we probably see Malaysia shielded by China on trade even if US squeeze money out from emerging market.
