IT'S OFFICIAL, OUR EDUCATION SYSTEM'S GOING DOWN THE TOILET.

World Bank Economist Frederico Gil Sander said IMMEDIATE EDUCATION REFORMS are crucial. “Vietnam is a much poorer country, but Vietnamese students in rural areas actually perform better than Malaysian students,” he told the Economic Transformation Programme's Global Malaysia Series forum.

“That should be very alarming to Malaysia, much more alarming than the debt situation,” he added.

GE Global Growth & Operations ASEAN CEO Stuart Dean bluntly said that a talent gap in Malaysia suffer "would certainly depress our investment spending".

And Idris Jalan completely missed the point when he told the forum that the National Education Blueprint WOULD ENSURE CONTINUITY in the country's education policies, irrespective of a change in prime ministers, as it is a 20-year plan.

We are really in deep doodoo now!

SINGAPORE/KUALA LUMPUR: Even before the loss of its Flight MH370, Malaysian Airline System (MAS) was bleeding cash, prompting talk that it may need another financial rescue from state investor Khazanah Nasional Bhd, its majority shareholder.

The flag carrier's cash and short-term investments at end-December were close to $1.2 billion (726 million pounds) - less than its average operating costs of the two previous quarters, and a signal that it may soon need fresh funding or bank loans.

Passport check not 'too cumbersome'

5.30am: Reuters - The international police agency Interpol on Friday rejected a Malaysian suggestion that Interpol's database for checking passport was too cumbersome.

Interpol said that although several other countries used the database millions of times each year, the Malaysian immigration department had not checked plane passengers' passports against its database at all this year prior to the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 on March 8.

The agency's statement followed comments made by Malaysia's Home Minister Zahid Hamidi to Parliament on Wednesday that the burdensome nature of the Interpol database slowed down immigration checks.

Zahid said Interpol's database of 40.2 million lost passports was "too large" and would overwhelm Malaysia's database management system.

"Furthermore, Interpol's information of lost (passports) may slow down the process of immigration checks at counters," Zahid was quoted as saying by the Malay Mail Online.

Interpol, based in Lyon, France, said it takes just 0.2 seconds for its database to reveal to authorities whether a passport is listed as stolen. No member country had ever complained the process was too slow, it added. "Malaysia's decision not to consult Interpol's Stolen and Lost Travel Documents (SLTD) database before allowing travellers to enter the country or board planes cannot be defended by falsely blaming technology or Interpol. If there is any responsibility or blame for this failure, it rests solely with Malaysia's Immigration Department," it said.

Two passengers with stolen Austrian and Italian passports were able to board the plane, which vanished over the South China Sea on March 8.

ADOIIII!

Now THIS hurts because when CELEBS whom are ALSO "PUBLIC FIGURES" join in...they can amass a LOT of attention and public support with them as 'opinion leaders' by themselves if their opinions are sound and aligned with the masses, it only serves to magnify any sentiments that are currently being felt...and this isn't good for us.

I suggest we send PERKASA to help mediate on behalf of UMNO and the Government!

Ask them to bring their posters and banners as well please!

Inmarsat: 'Ended in ocean' theory not ours

2.40pm: British-based satellite company Inmarsat distances itself from Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's conclusion that MH370 has "ended in the Indian Ocean".

Inmarsat spokesperson Jonathan Sinnatt says Inmarsat had only provided the information and it was for the Malaysian government to draw its own conclusions, reports China Daily.

"We provide our information to the Malaysians, and they combine that with all the other information which they have, which we wouldn't know about, and then they draw their conclusions from that and make their own announcements on that basis.

"We aren't a party to what the Malaysians announced, that's up to them, because they see the full picture. We just contribute one set of information," he is reported as saying.

Najib on the night of March 24 delivered a grim press conference announcing MH370 had "ended in the Indian Ocean" citing analysis of Inmarsat's satellite data.

However, the announcement has fuelled anger among the Chinese families of the passengers, who refuse to accept the conclusion until the aircraft is found.

MH370客机事故，至今进入第21天。我敢说，在这期间大马人对机上人员安危的忧心不会比中国人来得少，国人不幸对事件的揪心程度不会比任何一个国家的人来得轻。

大马人因不幸事件发生在大马，目前客机坠海真相未大白有感惭愧。同时基于对不幸者及家属的惋惜，大家都提供了极大的容忍度，初时任由中国网民怒骂发泄，甘当愤怒情绪的垃圾桶。理性民众的表现，让一些人得寸进尺。听信阴谋论甚于官方与理性信息的中国网民，如今采取的不只是咄咄逼人，还是一种欺人太甚的态度。

一名相信是旅居中国的大马人Jj Teo，撰文“身为马来西亚人，我有话想说……”，针对政府于MH370事件中被批整天举办毫无意义交代不了真相的记者会，阴谋论指控及民联狂热支持者在网上不断转载不实信息，指控政府隐瞒真相挑弄中国人与大马人对政府的憎恨，作出反击。

Jj Teo在文中提及我国同样有50人在失踪客机上，马航职员在痛失同事和朋友当儿仍保持专业服务，承受失控乘客家属的刁难。这位网民也批评在事故中兴风作浪的民联狂热粉丝，认为当不了解国情的外国人无理中伤大马之际，大马人必须力挺自己国家。

我想說，接近20天的搜尋行動，為的是什麽？不只是給中國同胞的154條生命一個交代，而是還全機上239條性命一個答案。

馬來西亞難 道在這十幾天的搜尋行動只是置身事外？失聯客機上，亦有我國的同胞。他們也有家人、同事、朋友，期待他們平安歸來。

馬航其他的空服人員，事後依然臉帶笑容，以專業的精神和態度繼續為馬航的乘客服務。他們真的什麽都不懂，卻需承受登機乘客對他們拋擲的各種疑問，轉身之後，他們潸然淚下，因為失聯的客機上，亦有和他們並肩作戰多年的同事。

154條性命下落不明，整個中國唯馬來西亞是問。這個國家肩負的壓力，不只是失聯客機上239條人命，還有他們的家屬，甚至整個中國、整個世界的責問。馬來西亞的痛，不比你們輕。

我想說，每天的新聞發佈會，都是為你們而召開。我看得出來，馬來西亞代表已經說得詞窮了。

他們前後矛盾，他們拖延，他們延遲公佈消息。我不懂這個政府有沒有在掩飾些什麽 。我只知道，這個國家還沒有到可以瞞天過海的程度；我只知道，這個國家技不如人，沒有足夠的處理能力，沒有先進的系統提供更多線索，許多外來的數據還需靠他國協助分析；我只知道，網上太多不負責任的推測、消息、真相、內幕，講到比珍珠還真，有關當局必須一一求證才敢對外公佈。

我也相信，不管我們早公佈還是晚公佈，依然會被千夫所指，因為，說到底，依然缺乏關鍵性的證據。如果這個國家真有答案，那我還真搞不懂他們何苦要在全世界人面前出糗，什麽問題都說不清楚。

還是，既然你們說全球人都知道這是因為政治訴求而造成的劫機事件，那你們是不是有什麽關鍵性的證據，不妨拿出來，幫幫我們。接近20天的徒勞無功，這個國家也累了。

目前的情況，沒有線索，沒有人證物證，連如同閉路 電視的雷達也沒有記錄。所有蛛絲馬跡，只能從精確度有限的衛星影像，以及零零碎碎的天文數字中，拼湊出一點頭緒，而這一丁點的頭緒，在飛機找到之前，也只能稱是假設。

但是，你們急於得到真相，因此不管當局得出什麽假設，都先公諸於世，有消息好過沒消息。後來證實有些假設是錯的，馬來西亞又一一否認。否認越多，你們越懷疑。直到那天，我國首相宣佈，MH370絕跡于南印度洋。這次，輪到你們否認這個結論。

我想其中一個原因是，這不是你們等待的答案，更重要的是，除了數據資料，其他證據不詳。說真的，飛機殘骸和遺體一天沒找到，我也不會相信這就是事實。馬航所宣佈的“無人生還”，定論的確下得過於倉促，甚至我本身也極度不認同。

但是，絕跡的結論，並不是爲了敷衍你們而道出的，而是經過多 方面專業的計算，多方面線索的整合，得出的结果。而對於那些在前線及幕後默默拼命、乘風破浪的功臣，在你們否定這些结果的同時，是不是也等於一拼否定他們專業的付出？

比起官方消息，媒體的輿論似乎更處於主導地位。馬來西亞發佈的消息一直不明不白，所以輿論也隨之不分青紅皂白。

陰謀論、政治論，網上瘋傳的各種天馬行空創意爆發的評論，說著說著就以假亂真。而乘客的家屬，他們要的是一個可以說服自己的真相。哪個說法說得過去，真相就是哪個。

我一直認為，謠言止於智者。但是，當我看到具有影響力的藝人也帶頭抵制有關馬來西亞的任何東西，說馬來西亞無德、無良、無能，馬來西亞被貶得禽獸不如、草菅人命，更莫名其妙地抨擊和事件毫無關係的所有馬來西亞人，我的失望甚於憤怒。

和失聯客機完全扯不上邊的其他馬來西亞人，我們到底做錯了什麽？意外，不是我們安排的。善後做得不好，但這個國家正在努力。馬航出事，你們詆毀整個馬來西亞，這口氣我無論如何都咽不下去。

我承認，這個國家在客機失聯的事件中，處理方式也許甚至不及“差強人意”。在全球人的注視下，成為國際焦點之際，馬來西亞的表現顯得手足無措。這不是沒有原因。

馬來西亞這個國家，沒有經歷過毀滅性的的災難、沒有發生過極端性的暴亂，猶如溫室里健康成長的小花，人們生活安逸，偶爾來個安全集會對 執政黨表示抗議，最後好聚好散，僅此而已。我們一直以來都為我們的和平為榮。

這也許是爲什麽在客機失聯當天，馬來西亞的軍事雷達就算偵測到有不明物體飛過，也沒有第一時間去追蹤，因為馬來西亞真的居安太久而忘了思危。
