KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 13): British American Tobacco (M) Bhd (BAT) will be removed from the MSCI Global Standard Index while Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd will be added to the equity gauge following the February 2020 quarterly index review for the MSCI Equity Indexes.

MSCI Inc said in a statement on Wednesday (Feb 12) that all changes will be implemented as of the close of Feb 28.

Following BAT's removal from the MSCI Global Standard Index, MSCI said BAT will be added to the MSCI Global Small Cap Index.

MSCI said Carlsberg and Kerjaya Prospek Group Bhd will be removed from the MSCI Global Small Cap Index.

So, the sell down was due to MSCI last day due on 28/2/2020. MSCI sold all BAT and switch to Carlsberg? If they did this, i think they made the biggest mistake in their entire investing life.

With the correction mode of the Dow Jones n European market , Bat n other consumer counters may face more selling pressure ... n even the politic is stable for a while , later on maybe something still going on ..

eventhough BAT is on the UP trend, they are still losing quite a bit of dividend profit because of the illicit ciggie sales and high tax by the govt..once the enforcement cracks down on the illegal sellers, then we might see an improvement in the dividend..

the dividend seems smaller compared to last year..is it because of lack of enforcement by govt to punish all illegal cigarette sales that contribute up to 67% of tobacco economy..
