Plantation sector is one of the choice now., as palm oil price is expecting to recover. Still going up. Plantation company like jayatiasa showing price recovery.

Back in 2012, JTiasa was valued at an EV/ha of RM68000 (CPO around RM3300)

From JP Morgan's report, Malaysian peers average EV/ha = US25,500 (say at USDMYR 4, RM equivalent = RM102,000)

To be conservative, let's value it at RM65000 EV/ha

JTIASA planted area 69,589ha = RM4,523mil in EV

Less net debt of RM883mil

Implied market cap = RM3,640mil

FV/share = RM3.74

JAYA TIASA's main business segments include oil palm plantations, milling and timber operations.

Its earning performance has been overall fluctuating in last five years, whereby its earning per share overall fluctuated from -27.48 sen to 5.6sen. Making losses in all of last five years.

In the 2019 financial year, there was a Net Loss of RM265.3 million down from the previous Net Loss of RM69.8 million. The reason for the widening loss were due to 23% lower CPO selling price, signifcant lower sales volume for our timber products, and the derecogniton and reversal of deferred tax assets on unabsorbed tax losses in loss making subsidiaries amountng to RM80 million recognized during the year. Loss per share was 27.48 sen compared to 7.34 sen in the previous year.

Investing is forward looking. What are the implications to the company earnings when CPO is trending at above 3000.

Agreed with Fabien...by the way Jaya Tiasa is now more a plantation company than timber. When CPO price fly, it will also fly

Say 50% discount on EV/ha based calculation, you are looking at RM1.87

bear in mind, zero value is absribed to its timber business.

Im not sure how many people are swallowing their own bs here.

However, do note that at the end of the day you are buying earnings, not asset. You're not a liquidator.

JTIASA palm oil land is cheap for a reason. The management is horrible and running them efficiently.

Probably they believe in FA & TA as well as JTIASA's massive growth this quarter

Simple comparison, the production output much higher and the total share amount are less than TSH. So if TSH can hit RM1.5++ why can't Jtiasa.

Average Q3 2019, July RM 1879; Aug RM 2067; Sept RM 2097. Based on Jtiasa corporate presentation, it record about RM 1935 in Q3 2019, enjoy profit margin 30%, recorded EPS 1.63sen (jtiasa should record much higher EPS if without offset by loss in timber business)

Average Q4 2019 should be about RM 2500 based on average selling price Oct RM 2104; Nov RM 2494; Dec 2813.

As the cost of production is relatively fixed, therefore, any surplus above cost is direct translate into increment in profit margin and net profit.

Average Q1 2020, will be around RM 2900-3000.

I bought this at a high price of 1.05 in August '17 & was punished when it plunged in '18 & '19 because I was careless & didn't check on the company's huge debt levels.

Fortunately I made amends & sold most of that old stock off at 1.0883 on Jan 7th.

@dompeilee, you held for 2.5 years and finally made 3% of profit gains?
