Telekom Malaysia May Face Earnings Pressure: UOB KH -- Market Talk

Telekom Malaysia's earnings are likely to be pressured by continued price erosion of its UniFi product and rising capital expenditure to phase out its copper network, UOB Kay Hian says. The broker downgrades the fixed-line operator to sell from hold, and cuts its target price to MYR3.60 from MYR3.80. It adds that the stock has gained more than 50% year to date and earnings recovery has largely been priced in. UOB Kay Hian also forecasts a drop in Telekom Malaysia's dividend yield to 3.5% in 2020. Shares are 0.5% lower at MYR4.08.

You dont need to be epf to know why utilities counter is good, its a natural hedge for trade war. No matter the circumstances ppl will always need to use utilities services, tm,tnb, water concessions. Not affected by anything. Only customer satisfaction need to fulfill.

the price are quite weird today .... when closing period around 4.45 the price suddenly gap drop from 4.02 to 3.97. maby they want more people to sell share to them tomorrow as rm4 support had breach.

YoY profit up by 12%. Next Q should be better as last year the huge cost of impairment slotted in Q4. Without huge impairment cost, TM yoy profits will jump significantly. The lesser revenue is expected but moving fwrd the revenue will increase as more subscribers are registering for new pricing of Streamyx. Unifi Air also will give TM a boost. Most importantly, TM is almost certain will get 5G license.

TM is definitly as buy stock. Buy on weakness. Rm3.95 is a strong support level. Even if the overall market turns bad, it won't down that much. Afterall the Govt wants TM to be included in KLCI..so they will support the price. So why worries??

Cabinet approves RM21.6bil national connectivity plan

PETALING JAYA: The Cabinet has approved the implementation of the RM21.6bil National Fiberisation and Connectivity Plan (NFCP), says the Communications and Multimedia Ministry.

Its Minister Gobind Singh Deo said the five-year plan starting this year will provide nationwide digital connectivity that is high quality and affordable for all Malaysians across the urban and rural divide.


"The NFCP's main targets include the provision of an average speed of 30 Mbps in 98% of populated areas and gigabits availability in selected industrial areas by the year 2020 and all state capitals by 2023," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Aug 28).

TM will be the most benefitted from this projects. This will include the 5G implementation for fixed broadband. So TM will be able to offer HSBB to more areas + fighting with big boys on mobile business.
