lol i laughed those buy at 10.20 above this week.
it is already many times rebound from 9.xx to 10.20+ but will slowly gradually drop back to around 9.6x.
no need to buy now. Tenaga will surely drop below 9.7 soon and even will go down to 9.5 slowly in month

9.5-9.6 better buy not >9.9.

OMG mywb.....you shared an article that is 2012??? Really?....now i seriously doubt all the info u r sharing. Heard before ICPT? imbalance cost pass-through that was introduced in 2014? and it revised every 6 months?

Those who have info have an advantage but those with outdated info....extremely dangerous.

@Titan, I shared the link just to let you know that the commodity price affects the TNB earning.

Whether the imbalance cost pass-through is effective is another story. Gov would prefer not to burden the Rakyat by hiking electricity. You get what I mean?

The reason I bring up tnb at RM6xx is because a lot of new investor think, RM9xx is good buy and will not drop any further. That is not true, if the future is not there, it will drop to the level that you would not think of. Learn to see the chart, never catch the falling knife, the chart still show long term downtrend. How low it will go, I do not know. That is why I advise to buy only after reversal.

mywb, RM6xx is TNB price in 2012 ,when the coal price is lower,
but TNB has risen from RM6 in 2012 to about RM12 in 2020. I doubt coal price is dropping from 2012 until todate

You mean coal price will drop back to 2012 level so TNB will drop to RM6.00 kah ?

My opinion is TNB price is not only depend coal price or Chart. Current Everything goes up but TNB still made billion of profit every years. Everyone still has to pay electricity regardless of coal price up or down.

The reason i say TNB at RM6xx is a lot of retailer think it is impossible to reach that price. What I am trying to say is anything is possible in stock market. Nobody even think covid-19 will happened. Nobody will know there might be war in the south china sea.

i agreed that coal price will impact tnb price. However, TNB will have already taken consideration the future rising cost of coal price in the tariff. TNB is not private company power generator . It is monopoly business, GLC own by gov and gov can control the tariff. The current pandemic , tariff rebate (paid by gov) is just a temporary and with vaccine coming, economy will fast recover and i confident TNB will shine again.

Well, I just wanted to say that do take all the info here with pinch of salt. Let me put into a simple perspective. If someone tell you driving a car at 60km and if you do emergency brake, you sure will crash and die. You say really??? Then he pull show you a article that done research in 1980. But over the yrs, car technology has improved so much. With air bag, disc brakes, abs n etc. Of course, there is no absolute in it. If you really hv a freak accident, driving at 30kmh also can die la. Does that deter you from driving? Well, it is all base on calculated risk.

Just look at the coal price chart vs TNB chart.
https://markets.businessinsider.com/commodities/coal-price

This is what the big funds are looking. tnb price goes up from 2012-2018 is due to lower input cost. Later on big funds are selling down on expectation the coal price will increase and the coal price did drop in 2020 but too bad, gov use the savings to help to rakyat in the discounts and not reflected in the tnb earning. If you aware about new commodity super-cycle which will be in the 6th bull run currently, the commodity price will continue to go up and will negatively impact tnb earning. That is the reason why big funds continue to sell.

This is what my investment analyst share to me. How you all interpret this is up to your own wisdom.I hope i answer VTrade question and is detail enough.

This pandemic will be over and the demand for electricity will be increasing.

Look into the future. Current and new ETS,MRT,LRT,ECRL projects , TNB Broadband project , all will increase electricity demand.

Many new upcoming residential property, condo are installing charging stations for Electric Vehicle (EV) as a standard facility.

The future is EV. see how TESLA share rising in this 2 years. TESLA Boss now becoming richest man in the world !

No need to wait RM6xx. Buy now when price is weak. Think positive and cheer.. !

The title is abit misleading loh.

The content says
"Based on reports from Bernama, the government is giving out a RM0.20 rebate per killowatt hour (kWH) to domestic and industrial customers"

Tried search for the edgemarket report on 19th January.

"The impact of the discount and the rebate is neutral on TNB as TNB's electricity revenue will not be impacted. There will also not be any effect on TNB's business operations and financial position," the company said."

Ok, now i will share in details on 2nd point why the below statement is half truth.
Of course the company will say positive things about its company nothing special. I agree that government will bear the rebate. But lets think one step further. Have anyone work for government related project? hows the payment timeliness. Plenty of examples, such as the lrt project which is the recent one. Since this is related to gov related issue, I cannot provide too much details as it is sensitive but try to think from the neutral perspective then you will get what I am trying to say. If one day gov do not have $$$ and dont pay tnb, what can tnb do? Just like Topglove lesson, if Topglove dont listen to gov, everyday one death arrow to them also TG in big trouble. Only after TG plan to offer jobs to local then only gov stop attacking TG. Whether TG really hire lots of local in their factory is another story.

"The impact of the discount and the rebate is neutral on TNB as TNB's electricity revenue will not be impacted. There will also not be any effect on TNB's business operations and financial position," the company said."

In order to support my previous point, we then need to look at our government transparency and corruption index in doing business ranking. Everyone know the ranking including foreign fund manager and that might influence them to sell down on their stakes in Tnb. As a msian, I also wish to get cheap electricity, but this will be negative to TNB. If we wish TNB to have great earning, then we have to accept the high electricity bill. Just my 2 cents.

@MYWB. Thank you for highlighting the coal input price increase to about USD70 per MT. The average forecast is at USD 75 per MT based on 2020 annual report. Anything above the average pricing TNB will kick in the ICPT cost pass thru.
I am not aware of the super commodity cycle , but sure is intriguing . No cost of concern for the share holders but as customers i hate to pay higher bill. Usually coal price will increase in the winter and drop back down during summer months. No cause for alarm at the moment. MACD chart still in buy mode and no cross over signal at the moment . 9.70 was the buy signal 2 weeks back if not mistaken.
But I do appreciate all watchmen to trigger thoughts and analysis to keep us on our toes. Thank you.

@KimSua, Refer to the below links on commodity supercycles. I also like to share my knowledge and have a constructive discussion as we are human and I may overlook on my blind side as well. The more discussion we have the more we understand why the TNB price is not moving up as compared to other recovery stocks. I strongly believe there is something that many of us failed to notice which is alright. It is never too late to learn new perspective.
