Think like this

Let there be different category of tariffs

1. Retail consumers

Let tariff be minimal to help the rakyat

2. Medium tariff on commercial and industrial factories

3. Heavier tariff on Data Centers and industries that pollute

All will play their roles as all receive benefits

According to PMX, the tariff hike has not yet been approved. However, the announcement to BURSA indicates that the proposal has received approval from the Energy Commission. This confusion has caused market volatility. If it is true that the government has not approved the tariff, then TNB may have issued false information to BURSA and could face suspension for market manipulation. To maintain investor confidence, BURSA must ask TNB to clarify the issue on Monday.

With the Mushrooming of Industrial e&e clusters in Penang, the proliferation of FDI and the Mushrooming of Data Centers & Ai which will increase demand for electricity exponentially it is an imperative that TNB allocate High Capital of Rm90 Billions for Power Transmission Infrar for the next 5 years

Failing which we can expect power failure nationwide

The consequence of 3 days and 3 nights when country plunges into total darkness is the danger for being complacent

TNB proposed. Maybe price increase because of speculate

Pba also increased water tariff due to many factories in Bayan Lepas and Batu Kawan needing water.

So same for Tnb. Lots more Data Centers and Ai have come and will come more and more

it is inevitable that Grid infrastructure must improve and cost to be borne by tariff

Last time there was no North South Highway and it took 14 to 16 hours journey by Hosni Bus from Penang to Singapore one way

after Plus Built the Plus North South Highway journey now is a breeze in less than 10 hours

and people willing pay toll to use Plus Highway whereas long ago the old road was free

Do people want to avoid paying toll by keeping that old road ?

Of course not.

So will be electricity

There were times when power supply failed and electricity is cutoff and rationed

People do not know the coming danger of widespread power failure if Tnb failed to upgrade the Power Grid

in just one or two more years Electric power demand will increase by 60% to 70%

if still don't start now by then it will be too late

Will you give up lighting and aircond? Will you wash clothes by hand when washing machine cannot operate due to power failure ??

They said, "Luxury once enjoyed becomes a necessity "

if we fail to prepare now then be prepared to live in total darkness for 3 days and 3 nights or longer

Listen carefully

For last 30 years in Klse more than 90% of traders and punters have lost money year after year misled by wrong info from Media

Better do your own independent thinking and careful study if you want to succeed

Already mentioned clearly Govt will give a Rm5.9 BILLION FREE CASH SUBSIDY TO TENAGA NATIONAL FOR JAN TO JUNE 2025 FOR NOT INCREASING TARIFF

FROM JULY TO DEC 2025 IF NO TARIFF THEN ANOTHER RM5.9 BILLIONS RAKYAT MONEY WILL STILL GO INTO TNB AS TARIFF POSTPONEMENT COMPENSATION

ALL THIS IS IN BLACK AND WHITE

SO TNB PROFIT IS SECURED EITHER WAY

VERY FEW COMPANIES GOT SUCH FAVOURABLE TERMS AS THIS IS GOVT GLC

EVEN DURING THE ASIAN FINANCIAL CRISIS GOVT ONLY SUPPORTED 3 COMPANIES

TTM

TENAGA
TELEKOM
MAYBANK

SO TENAGA IS A GOVT PRIORITY

Rm5.9 Billions subsidy for 6 months

One month about Rm1 Billions subsidy

From 2014 to 2014 no raising tariff

So from 2025 to 2025 if no tariff increase Govt might have to give A Subsidy of Rm120 Billions to Tenaga

meanwhile all the Fdi, Data Center ..

will make money at the expense of RAKYAT by enjoying subsidised electricity

Well if previous years when fuel cost so high there was no increase in tariff...now with lower fuel costs and coal prices compared to earlier...a hike of 14% would be suicidal for current government, will they go down this road?

@calvintaneng...first half of 2025 government subsidy expected to be RM2.39bil and not RM5.9bil as per your earlier post..you can get the figure (RM2.39bil) from the mainstream media

The cruz of the matter is this

"In August 2023 Tnb already planned allocation of Rm90 billions for the National Power Grid upgrade and expansion of Rm90 billions

All have been pre-planned and nothing done in haste

So the Upgrade is a fundamental necessity to meet growing demand by leaps and bounds

To neglect this will entail horrible consequences later

To build the Asean Power Grid

To be exact

It is "NOW" a matter of Our Survival

So it is not negiotiable and failure is unthinkable

Already failed in Hsr to Indonesia, Thailand and Laos which are miles ahead Malaysia with their High Speed Rail Up or Up Soon &:Running
So to fail to build the Promised ASEAN POWER GRID is unthinkable

Critics called us

Malaysia = Malu-sia

@calvintaneng, i think as an investor we must not be lazy..u refer to bursa announcement which they just put the announcement title there...as usual Malaysians love to just read the title...however the title has typo it in...if u hardworking enough to go to the Ministry's webpage n refer back to original press release...it is clearly stated in bold 1st half RM2.39bil...the balance for 2nd half IF based on proposed tariff by TNB (not finalised yet), in total RM5.9bil for whole year...so it is not RM5.9bil for 1st half as per mention by u

Ok after careful study

Ravetidus is correct

See

Tenaga Nasional Berhad (“TNB”) wishes to inform that the Government of Malaysia (“Government”) has approved the implementation of the Regulatory Period 4 (“RP4”) under the Incentive Based Regulation (“IBR”) framework for the period of 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2027. This was announced by Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (“PETRA”) via its press release ‘Pengekalan Tarif Elektrik di Semenanjung : Kerajaan Menyediakan Subsidi Elektrik Sebanyak RM5.96 bilion bagi tempoh 1 Januari hingga 30 Jun 2025’ dated 20 December 2024.

Actual status is this

Rm2.388 Billions is for Jan to June 2025

Extra Rn3.57 Billions will start from July 2025

Total for Rm2025 to 2027 is about Rm6 Billions or Rm2 Billions subsidy per year

(However, there is a possibility by 2nd half of Rm2025 the extra Rm3.57 Billion Funding will be accompanied by New Revised Tariff)

In any case Rm5.95 Billions in total will still be given by Malaysian Govt to TNB

Will continue to buy on weakness

Up 10c wo...
So, no increase of electrical bill as per say?

Don't be naive.
Electrical bill tarrif rise been discussing for year...
TNB and Minister have many many round of meeting to cast out the final number of tarrif for rp4.

This is a need for next 5 years to prepare for data center boom..

Without higher capax to upgrade the infrastructure mean DC will dead...

Minister has been in the discussion back in Feb24..
Minister was well know the tarrif rise..
So, electricity tarrif rise is imminent..like health insurance.
After issue being forgot.... The bill will rise on Jul25...

TNB will be $20 then!!

Health insurance bill riding being fool by gomen..
Electrical bill rise will be more smart...
Didt want to fool by them because goole, Amazon, Microsoft data center would require electricity for operation.

I don't think our minister want to shut them down
