MALAYSIA ELECTRICITY IN GREAT DEMAND BY MANY NEW DATA CENTERS SO TARIFF MUST BE RAISED

SINGAPORE GOT MANY POWER SUPPLIERS AND TIMES ARE TOUGH SO THEY REDUCE TARIFF

THIS TELLS US ECONOMIC BOOM IS GRADUALLY INCREASING IN MALAYSIA BY VIRTUE OF ITS VERY LOW BASE

THAT IS WHY TNB WILL SEE ACCELERATED GROWTH FROM NOW

Happy morning all

Do not sell Tenaga to buy Hexcap

Do so only if you got spare cash

Tenanga by virtue of Data Centers & Ai. E&E clusters on Penang Island and Batu Kawan plus the influx of huge Fdi will see Multi- year growth of energy demand for years to come

And the shifting to EV charging Stations from Petrol station will see Tenang overtaking Petronas one day

Being The Strategic Core of Data Centers boom Malaysia will be a hot spot for electricity demand

Any time anybody use his/her phone on planet earth to access his phone, watch youtube, whataspp or whatever there is a link to some Data Center on earth that activates a server

And more will be in Data Center located in Malaysia and many Data Centers are being built concurrently

This happens 24/7 from all over the world

So Malaysia energy demand is NOW GLOBAL DEMAND

BY THE TIME WHEN ROBOTS TAKE OVER HUMAN JOBS AND CARS ALSO SELF DRIVE BY AI

THE ENERGY DEMAND WILL BE EXPLOSIVE

EVERY TIME AN AI OR ROBOTS MOVE THE ELECTRICITY USE IN DATA CENTER WILL AMPLIFY

BY THE POWER OF FIBER OPTIC DATA IS TRANSMITTED AT THE SPEED OF 186,000 MILES PER SECOND AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT

SO THERE IS NO PHYSICAL SEPARATION BY TIME

IT TAKES LESS THAN ONE SECOND TO TRANSMIT DATA TO UK FROM KL, OR FROM PENANG TO ARGENTINA

DATA FROM JOHOR CAN REACH ANYWHERE ON EARTH IN LESS THAN A SECOND - FASTER THAN YOU CAN WALK TO THE KITCHEN, FASTER THAN YOU CAN WALK OUT THE FRONT DOOR

AND EVEN IF A DATA CENTER IS BUILT ON THE MOON IT TAKES ONLY LESS THAN 2 SECONDS TO REACH THE MOON AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT (186,000 MILES PER SECOND) MORE IS LESS THAN 240,000:MILES FROM EARTH

ONLY FOR PLANET JUPITER YOU NEED MORE THAN 2 SECONDS TO REACH IT AS IT IS MORE THAN 370,000 MILES AWAY FROM EARTH

SO FAST IS DATA TRANSMITTED SO A DATA CENTER BUILT IN MALAYSIA IS JUST AS CLOSE AS YOU CAN BUILD IN NORTH POLE OR SOUTH POLE. ONLY ONE SECOND NEEDED

SO THERE IS NO DISTANCE IT CANNOT REACH WITHIN A SECOND

ALL THIS DONE WITH HELP OF ELECTRICAL POWER AND FIBER OPTICS

AND ULTIMATELY ENERGY WILL BE IN USE AND THAT MORE ABUNDANTLY LIKE NEVER BEFORE SEEN OR EXPERIENCED BEFORE
HENCE TNB WILL PLAY A MAJOR PART

THIS IS IT

TNB , = THE POWER GENERATOR OF THE FUTURE

Why Singapore can lower it's electricity bill while Malaysia increase ?

answer is simple

current cost per kilowatt hour in Malaysia is about 39 sen while Singapore is over Rm1.00

so even if Malaysia raise it's electricity cost per kilowatt hour to 45.2 sen per kilowatt hours it is still cheaper by half of what Singapore sells

Malaysia electricity price like it's Ron95 petrol are priced too cheaply

in Singapore petrol station offers 5% discount sometimes but of what use when it is so very expensive in the first place

So all ignoramus please wake up

One main reason why Singaporeans want to build their factories is due to very cheap electricity, water, petrol and labour cost as well as land and building cost in Malaysia

How come so dumb?

Nvidia is starting a Data Center in Malaysia to earn more and more money

in last 5 years Nvidia share price up 2,300% and now it is a Rm15 Trillions company

Rm15 Trillions is 10X (times) Malaysia total debt of Rm1.5 Trillions

the irony is this

Tenaga needs help from Malaysia Govt with Rm5.9 Billion subsidy for its electricity while Nvidia is enjoying cheap electricity with the help of opposing voices against raising electricity tariff on Nvidia , Google and Amazon?

Amazing self sabotaging institutions we got here in Malaysia - people who are willing to betray the national interest

When attracting the BATMMAN, gov offers cheap electricity, water, land, and human capital. Investors come in and build the center, then government increases all those costs. The investors are not dumb either. They are smarter than all Malaysia GLC CEOs.

calvinteng, Tenaga submitted the grid upgrade/modernization budget to EC for approval last year, and it is not limited to DC but the grid needs to be upgraded to cater for decarbornization, higher integration of intermittent RE, upgrading grid transmission and distribution, more electrification (i.e. EV, industrial process, etc) and then of course DC.

It is a new electricity supercycle phenomena that is happening across the globe. https://www.economist.com/business/2025/01/05/a-new-electricity-supercycle-is-under-way

Awang123, what AmInvest suggest is true for short term, but then again, they'll adopt a 180 degree view some months down the road. In actual fact, TNB has to make huge investment to build several CCGT in coming years to cope with the power demand mainly from EE, DC, etc, but this will only come online by 2028/2029 and beyond (or that will be reflected in the earning in longer term, not any time soon). The tender will start to float from this year and that may generate a positive vibe. You can imagine TNB CCGT portfolio will grow significantly.

To have the CCGT coming online from 2029 to 2031, the order placement needs to take place from 2025 because the timing for commercial operation is around 4 to 5 years, due to overwhelming demand across the globe.

The times are a-changing

Petronas prominence will be taken over by Tenaga

Last time we pump gas at petrol stations
Now and in future Electric charging station will take over

Last time humans manned many things but next time 40% of all jobs will go into automation

In many places factories are managed by robots

So Energy provider and energy enabler will come into prominent

The mushrooming of Data Centers and Solar farms point to two main players

Hexcap"s Transgrid Ventures who will connect these energy generators to energy users

There must be electric grid to connect and distribute electricity

And Tnb facilitates the buying of energy from solar farms and selling energy to Data Centers

calvintaneng, Petronas and Tenaga is stepping into each others territory. Petronas also had Gentari, looking into EV (charging station), new energy (Solar, hydrogen, etc), while Tenaga upcoming CCGT also would require LNG regas because the current pipeline and Sg Udang / Pengerang regas is not sufficient.

@Cipta, DCs set up in Malaysia because of cheap electricity tariffs, if TNB naik tariff then most will cabut to other countries...however, the DCs not willing to invest in new capacity, instead pressures TNB to do so at their own cost, TNB no choice but to increase tariff to all, including public, but government needs to jaga welfare of ppl if they want to stay in power in the future, looks like TNB is getting squeeze in the middle

@Ravetidus, From an investment perspective, as outlined by the expert in the article, if DC is so profitable, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) should easily be able to secure funding from the market. However, TNB views it as a cost that want transfer to consumers rather than reaping substantial profits. This speaks volumes about the prospects of DC.

Tenaga has to build more Transmission Towers and substations and raise tariff

Failing which we can expect widespread power failure both nationwide and in all DC centers

Tenaga relies on government subsidies, amounting to around 5 billion MYR per year. This dependence suggests that their business model may not be economically sustainable, potentially because our electricity rates are priced well below the market rate. Over time, this situation could mirror that of RON95, where the government will gradually withdraw the subsidy to reduce public debt.

The Malaysian government may soon realize that power-hungry data centers could do more harm than good for the country. Corporations like Google, Amazon, and Microsoft are not charitable organizations. When they establish operations in Malaysia, they will likely demand that Tenaga or the government ensures the reliability of our power supply. In other words, Tenaga or the government might need to compensate for any loss of revenue in the event of a power outage.

Recognizing the potential economic drawbacks of data centers, the government may impose strict regulations. This will particularly affect smaller data centers like YTL Power, which may struggle to meet stringent green requirements.

Tenaga is a monopoly

Now with Data Center hungry for electricity Demand will amplify

Without raising Tariff Govt give Rm5.9 Bil subsidy to Tnb

Why not raise tariff?

All these Nvidia, Amazon, Google, Oracle are Trillions $ companies and sure can pay a little more for electricity

Ravetidus

If raise tariff and reduce subsidy, net impact will be same?

However, if raise tariff, consumers will shift to be more energy efficient/ solar panels or reduce usage, thus profits should be under pressure?

Google, Amazon, and Microsoft have very high standard for ESG so Tenaga will be transformed into a clean energy producer but this transformation will be expensive (dirty coal is the cheapest form of energy). Ultimately, Tenaga may have no option but to use nuclear power or else with the power-hungry Data Center existing government subsidy will balloon from 5b to maybe 10b.

Ravetidus

maybe do not need nuclear power, since crazy Trump is gonna take over soon, maybe he will ban Google, Amazon and Microsoft from setting up data centres outside of US, in case u know important information is obtained by other countries such as China
