Because of this ..

Kerajaan yg dahulu;

https://www.bharian.com.my/berita/nasional/2019/11/626288/kerajaan-tidak-lanjut-perkhidmatan-konsesi-pharmaniaga

Kerajaan bersetuju tidak meneruskan perkhidmatan konsesi perolehan ubat dan peralatan perubatan dari Pharmaniaga yang akan berakhir pada 30 November ini.

Pharmaniaga owned by Bstead ..both shares dropped significantly because the previous Pakatan (lucky the gov went to Holland ) and both Bstead (owner of) Pharmaniaga will regain concession for supplying medical and pharmaceuticals to Government hospitals.. so RM billion incoming revenue.. plus Covid 19 vaccine this also will add more billion to Pharmaniaga and will reflect to Bstead..

So thos3 who are inside.. hold.. Vaccine just around the corner few more months to come..if every student must be vaccinated about 6m student x RM200-300 per pax..RM1.8B..

I am so thrilled with strong conviction by traders and investors alike that vaccine will eventually ready for the masses in foreseeable timeline. Again this conviction is not entirely baseless at all. With govt announcement for vaccine's 'fill and finish' by two govt-linked pharmas should not be taken lightly. I am sure they've really thought out the consequences before making public announcement like this. If thing went sour or extended to unknown future, it won't affect much to general public perception since we NOT are actually the one who producing vaccine but merely bottling and packaging. Backlash from business community, traders and investors who betting on it is though, highly expected. As much we all hope vaccine will eventually emerged, producing viable vaccine is not a short term affair. With my limited knowledge and readings, I have to say I can't anticipate what's really brewing under the scene unless you've got insider tips to hold on to.

Athila noted that it was not a surprise to her that Pharmaniaga and Duopharma have been tasked with the COVID-19 packaging process in Malaysia, given that both have the largest manufacturing and pharmaceutical facilities in Malaysia as well as a reliable nationwide logistic network already in place.

She added that more than 50% of Pharmaniaga and Duopharma's products are supplied to the Ministry of Health's hospitals and facilities.

Covid-19 Vaccine Latest Updates: Oxford’s Covishield in India by ‘end of year’; Pfizer shot shows promise

Coronavirus (Covid-19) Vaccine Latest Update: While the promising results showed by experimental Covid-19 vaccines being developed by University of Oxford and Moderna Inc in early human testing have grabbed the spotlight in the past week, raising hopes of early availability in the market, a World Health Organization (WHO) expert said their first use cannot be expected until early 2021.

“Several vaccines are now in Phase 3 trials and none have failed, so far, in terms of safety or ability to generate an immune response. Realistically, it is going to be the first part of next year before we start seeing people getting vaccinated,” Reuters quoted said Mike Ryan, head of WHO’s emergencies programme, as saying.

Meanwhile, latest results from Oxford university and Moderna show that two doses of a vaccine may be better than one in getting protection from the novel coronavirus.

Presently, there are more than 150 vaccine candidates that are in various stages of trials against the coronavirus, according to the World Health Organisation. Out of them, about two dozen are undergoing human clinical trials.

Oxford-AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine status

Results published this week of early human trials of the AZD1222 vaccine, based on a chimpanzee adenovirus called ChAdOx1, developed by the University of Oxford and drugmaker AstraZeneca showed that it produced a dual immune response in people aged between 18 and 55 years.

The vaccine increased levels of both protective neutralising antibodies and immune T-cells that target the virus, according to the study organisers. “Our hope is that we can actually start delivering a vaccine before the end of the year,” Bloomberg quoted AstraZeneca Chief Executive Officer Pascal Soriot as saying.

A single dose of the vaccine elicited an increase in antibodies specifically against the spike protein by the first 28 days.

The Oxford shot is already undergoing a combined Phase II/III trials in the UK, Brazil and South Africa. The Serum Institute of India hopes to embark on phase III human clinical trials with the vaccine candidate by August and it may be launched as early as November.

Adar Poonawalla, CEO of Serum Institute of India, said the cost of the vaccine is estimated to be below Rs 1,000 and will be called Covishield in India.

The first Phase 3 coronavirus vaccine trial in the US is expected to begin next week. Here's how the vaccine works

Updated 0122 GMT (0922 HKT) July 25, 2020

Covid-19 vaccine shows 'promising' immune response results

(CNN)Much of the world has pinned its hopes on a vaccine as a way out of the Covid-19 pandemic that has infected more than 15 million and killed more than 630,000 people globally.

The World Health Organization says there are 25 potential coronavirus vaccines in clinical trials internationally.

Here in the United States, the government has put its money behind several different vaccine candidates through Operation Warp Speed.

One of those vaccines is being developed by the Vaccine Research Center at the National Institutes of Health's National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, in partnership with the biotechnology company Moderna. The vaccine is expected to enter Phase 3 testing next week. This phase of the trial is expected to involve 30,000 volunteers and will test whether the vaccine protects people against the coronavirus.

The vaccine uses messenger RNA (mRNA), which are cells used to build proteins -- in this case, the proteins that are needed to build the coronavirus' spike protein, which the virus uses to attach itself to and infect human cells. Once the immune system learns to recognize this target -- thanks to the vaccine -- it can mount a response faster than if it encountered the virus for the first time due to an infection.

Early results from the Phase 1 study were published in the New England Journal of Medicine in mid-July. The study showed that the vaccine, given at three different doses, triggered an immune response in the people who received it (the higher the dose, the higher the immune response). More than half of the participants experienced side effects including fatigue, chills, headache, muscle pain and pain at the injection site. The Phase 3 trial will involve the middle dose --100 micrograms (µg).

Dr. Barney Graham is the deputy director of the Vaccine Research Center. He spoke to Dr. Sanjay Gupta to explain a little bit about the technology behind the Moderna vaccine. What follows is a portion of their conversation, edited for length and clarity, to explain what is happening inside the body.

A vaccine in development by the British-Swedish company AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford is based on a chimpanzee adenovirus called ChAdOx1. Their Phase I/II trial, reported on July 20 in the journal Lancet, found that the vaccine was safe, causing no severe side effects. It raised antibodies against the coronavirus as well as other immune defenses. The vaccine is now in a Phase II/III trial in England, as well as Phase III trials in Brazil and South Africa. The project may deliver emergency vaccines by October. AstraZeneca has said their total manufacturing capacity for the vaccine, if approved, stands at two billion doses.

The German company BioNTech has entered into collaborations with Pfizer, based in New York, and the Chinese drug maker Fosun Pharma to develop their mRNA vaccine. In July, they posted preliminary results from their Phase I/II trials in the United States and Germany. They found that the volunteers produced antibodies against SARS-CoV-2, as well as immune cells called T cells that respond to the virus. Some volunteers experienced moderate side effects such as sleep disturbances and sore arms.

The company expects to start Phase III trials by the end of July. On July 22, the Trump administration awarded a $1.9 billion contract for 100 million doses to be delivered by December and the option to acquire 500 million more doses. If approved, Pfizer said they expect to manufacture over 1.3 billion doses of their vaccine by the end of 2021.

Keyman188 foresee a lot of traders & investors will surprised by this 2 core pharmaceutical firms which dealing with Covid-19 vaccine will be reaching unprecedented level :-

1) Pharma - TP 10.00

2) Dpharma - TP 7.50

Keyman188 looking at long term growth due to following reason (which were highlighted by Minister) :-

1) Two government-linked companies (GLC) which are also pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities have been identified to do the "fill and finish" process for the Covid-19 vaccine once it's available

2) "The two companies have told the government that they are willing to take stock production and prioritise it for the Covid-19 vaccine when it is available.

3) If we have the capacity, we will also offer our fill and finish service to other countries.

I am not convinced that vaccine can be ready as early by end of this yr. While there is so many positive and hopeful news, human can easily trapped on confirmation bias. They seek news that confirms to their believe and most times, refuse to accept contradictive ones. I am included. If you read the announcement by KJ recently, there is no confidence on vaccine. It is just about we are getting ready when vaccine is available.

I think government will only allow the company to make a small profit selling the vaccine in a pandemic (price control).

its not about selling vaccine..its about bottling charges that generate revenue..u misunderstood brader..although vaccine is free also can generate income to pharma..

Glove is definitely needed. With vaccine around, the ASP will be under control. Once ASP is under control, the glove earning and return is no more ridiculous number, like PE 30, 40 or 60. Soon the gambling mode will switch back to investment mode for glove counter.
About vaccine, to have 100% effective vaccine for covid 19 may take longer time, but who say we must wait for the 100% working vaccine? Phase 3 is to look for the right dosing for each individual if not wrong. How about inject a safe dosage for everyone for the phase 1? Maybe follow by Phase 2 injection as a booster and Phase 3 and so on, like hep B. In this case, those pharma company will earn multiple time instead of just 1 time.

Gloves will be less attractive when Covid 19 vaccines will arrive.. that why people in gloves counter feeling some sort of uncertainty if glove can maintain their high price.. for sure when vaccines come.. gloves price will be normal like before covid 19 be'ause people are not too much worried and we can live normal again.. there is still demand for glove but at a normal level and normal price.. or may be up to 2021 when all the countries have enough gloves stocks then they will stop order in a big way. They will use their gloves untill finish.. may be in 2023 they will re order our gloves..

SINGAPORE - A Covid-19 vaccine may become available in sufficient doses only towards the end of next year, the Health Ministry director of medical services Kenneth Mak said.

He said Singapore is proactively working with vaccine developers, pharmaceutical companies and research institutions on research efforts into a Covid-19 vaccine.

Discussions have also begun to ensure Singapore will have access to vaccines when they become available, he told a virtual press conference on Friday (July 24).

But even though a number of companies have announced that they have started on phase three trials, which are a "relatively later stage" of the process of vaccine development, Associate Professor Mak said there may yet be failures in delivering a vaccine that is safe and effective.

"Practically speaking, we expect, realistically, a vaccine to be available perhaps next year rather than this year," he said.

"Given the global demand for these vaccines, it may not even be in the beginning of next year but perhaps towards the end of next year, when we might see vaccines produced in sufficient doses, and available then for procurement and to be delivered into Singapore."

He added that at this stage, it is still not known which of the vaccine candidates undergoing trials will ultimately be the one that is most likely to be brought into Singapore

Goldberg Dr Fauci believes vaccine will only be available well into 2021.
-------------------------------------------------------
Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said he believes that hope is warranted and that a vaccine could stop the pandemic in its tracks, but he also doesn't believe that will happen until well into 2021.

The first Phase 3 coronavirus vaccine trial in the US is expected to begin next week.
"I think as we get into 2021, several months in, that you would have (a) vaccine that would be widely available to people in the United States," Fauci told the Washington Post's Bob Costa during a Post Live event.
