PARIS: Steroid jenis dexamethasone dipercayai membantu menyelamatkan satu pertiga daripada kes Covid-19 paling serius, berdasarkan keputusan percubaan yang dianggap sebagai penemuan terbesar dalam usaha memerangi wabak berkenaan.

Penyelidik yang diketuai pasukan dari Universiti Oxford itu menilai ubat berkenaan yang diberikan kepada lebih 2,000 pesakit Covid-19 yang tenat.

Pesakit yang hanya boleh bernafas dengan bantuan ventilator, pemberian dexamethasone mengurangkan risiko kematian kepada 35 peratus, dan mereka yang menerima bantuan oksigen, kadar kematian dapat dikurangkan kepada satu perlima.
Dos harian yang diberikan dapat mengelakkan kematian satu daripada lapan pesakit yang bergantung kepada ventilator selain menyelamatkan satu daripada 25 pesakit yang memerlukan bantuan oksigen, kata pasukan penyelidik itu.

"Dexamethasone adalah ubat pertama yang berjaya membuahkan hasil dalam menyelamatkan pesakit Covid-19. Ini adalah keputusan yang dinanti-nantikan," kata Peter Horby, profesor dalam bidang penyakit berjangkit baharu di Jabatan Perubatan Nuffield, Universiti Oxford.

"Dexamethasone tidak mahal, mudah didapati dan boleh digunakan serta-merta untuk menyelamatkan nyawa di seluruh dunia," katanya.

Duopharma Biotech Bhd and Pharmaniaga Holdings Bhd will be undertaking the fill and finish processes for the Covid-19 vaccine, once a vaccine is developed, said Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

He said Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has agreed for the facilities of the two companies to be utilised for that purpose, noting that the main challenge for the production of the vaccine is the finishing process.

"We have been in discussions with the Chinese government about the development of vaccines and they have reached the stage of clinical trials. Once the Ministry of Health is comfortable that the Chinese vaccines are safe, then we can begin talking to the Chinese about bulk purchasing.

A great shake out of GLOVES.
What's next?
Yesterday's afternoon low could be a good low.
Today looks like going down again to test that low. Likely it shall be a higher low to form a nice double bottom.
This shake out could take 3 to 5 mkt days for match making from weak to stronger holders.

All big 3 r at the mid way of our regular 2 storey staircase.
GREAT winning stocks always rest at this mid pt for a brief period to go higher Up the 2nd half n MORE ...
We all saw 1st half was so so good, 2nd half is much HIGHER guaranteed
