Hi Dave, Sorry for disturbing during weekend, May i know currently how many foreign worker's currently and will be approaching 10 years of working experience with SCGM?

from annual report 2018, there are about 355 foreign workers and 241 workers age between 26-45?

How is the progress of finding a new owner for the old plant? to reduce the current debt of 123 million

Currently we have almost 500 plus foreign workers. For those approaching 10 years, we are taking steps to mitigate the issues like automation and retraining. For old plant, we are on a lookout for suitable buyer.

Agree! Just like oil & gas stocks when their new rigs can't generate income to cover expenses, the auditors forced them to impair those assets. More pains in the pipeline.

There is absolutely no need to hurry to buy this stock.

Since there is no earnings, the stock will get lower and lower as retailers sell to one another. Until the government does away the one time use plastic policy, SCGM has no hope to return to the black.

Prospect look like not good...very challenging...depend on biodegradable packaging already...government try to embark eco friendly,polystyrene already banned,penang consider to lift plastic bag from 20sen to 50sen...soon plastic will slowly to replace by more eco friendly and soon food and beverage packaging also follow suit...management better consider to enter into paper packaging like Muda Holding...hehe

The gimmick "degradable" won't work. Degraded into microplastics which then enter the food chain?

Oxi-photo degradable? Another marketing gimmick. When plastic sent to landfill, there will be no sunlight, the plastic won't degrade.

Government is right to ban the plastic.

Only the evils will support plastic industries.

SCGM's management had on 24/9/2018 told the press that 40% of its raw materials (recycled resin) are derived from recycled sources.

While recycled resin requires further processing such as crushing and cleaning, it is 30% cheaper as compared to new resin, says SCGM.

Now the government has banned the recycled materials. Good luck.

@abat_misai, they dont source their resins from recycled plastics sourced from overseas only, they can also buy from other plastic companies. Anyways forget the rhetoric talks, there are still alot of plastic waste around in Malaysia to use as feedstock, not to mention from their own production line.

For those of you who thinks paper packaging can replace plastic packaging, please think again. There is simply no scale of production and paper packaging is nowhere near economical to compete with plastic products. Their products are not durable.
