Most of their profits are from interest income n unrealised gains from forex / securities. Profits from main business is miniscule... Unless that can be improved
If the major shareholders want to take it private, it can be done easily... but why are they not? Less than 50% public shareholdings, i.e. 80 million shares. Lets say @ RM1.50, it only cost them RM 120 million but there is more than RM 150 million cold hard cash in their bank...
They should concentrate to improve the business & profitability of the co. using the monies available, whereby shareholders should have a say on it. Dabbling in share market is a no-no...
Do they have a qualified team to make sound judgement on these investments? What kind of securities have they bought? Was it informed to the shareholders at large? What if they are buying into lousy & junk bonds / securities? Are they answerable to the shareholders for any investment lost?
1. Directors bought Eksons shares with own hard earned money shows confidence Too small of a purchase to justify the confidence level. 2. Declaring dividends indicate better times ahead This is the first dividend over the last 20 quarters. The last was in 2013. No consistency. Are we going to wait another 20 quarters to receive another 5 cents?
it seems can not distribute a special dividend for a short term as all cash already arranged for a time deposit and invested in a stock market. has showed a very poor QR, better switch to other counters instead making an empty dream every day.
Eksons' timber business facing downturn, ample cash in it no where to use, so they invest in shares, so far making insignificant gain. But i'm not worry even if they lost all money investing in shares, their other liquid assets are more than enough, but do u think they will lose all without cutting loss?
The net cash of eksons is as high as Rm 0.75 per share and this is not counting its other assets, very difficult to get Rm 0.20, even if the market crash.

Tipster
I went to check up on Eksons latest report
These are some facts
1) Eksons investment securities are the same. They did not buy more or sell. Price has gone up due to weak ringgit which is good
2) Eksons management has even increased putting MORE CASH INTO BANK FD
This is an extremely wise move to protect capital for shareholders
3) With so much CASH OVERFLOWING I think another 5 sen or more dividend can be expected for year 2019. That will be almost 7% yield
