I am now writing about Penta & hope will be out by this 1 or 2 weeks. I am accountant, so I will can only look things from figures, not as good as you.

Something related to presentation of accounts for manufacturing company & the movement in the closing stocks (finished goods & work in progress).

Raw materials were consumed to produce finished goods or work-in-progress, the costs were taken up in the accounts but some raw materials were used to produce unsold closing stocks/WIP.

Since it is not consumed or sold, the corresponding changes will be reversed back from the accounts, thus showing positive amounts in PL.

Positive amount means the level of closing stocks/WIP were higher than the previous period whereas Negative means closing stocks were reduced or more were sold.

Accountant has advantage of easy understanding figures from the reports but I have to admit most accountants are kiasu & kiasi one, including me... :(

superman, i was accountants. i see all the accountants kiasu, kiasi, kiabor, kiaang, kiamsiap, Kowpeh, Kowbu. so boring, so i left.

i have a sister who is a cfo is MNC. after a dinner meal, she will check the bill and ask many questions before she paid it.

Just wanna ask...me also accountant - but looking to break into equity analysis - but dunno how to do it? ever since i started investing in the share market, start to feel very passionate about this field...may consider doing CFA/ MBA...but don't know how to start...can advice? join an investment firm as a junior? but will they hire a 30+ year old guy as a junior? ......thanks...

Dear all, try to learn accounting skills or knowledge does not really help in improving investment skills, not at all.

To improve investment skills, the only ways are to read more books, annual reports, analysis & researches done by bankers/professionals & many great people like Icon8888 & many sifus in i3.

After knowing the basic terms in investment, that will still not guarantee you can become good investors & make handsome profits in investment, you will still need to learn the trade, get burn, make loss, gain profit, When to go in & When to exit.

I once asked a CFO of a company, she told me their accounts was prepared using percentage completion method but did not use long term contract accounting. I was confused. The project is around 50mil for 2 years and is to be completed next few months. I didn't see any WIP in their accounts nor notes on movement of related cost .

Tksw, i suggest not to discuss here as not appropriate, but advise you to look for accounting standards for construction contract and LHDN's public ruling on construction. Property development will be treated differently.

If I were a buyer, I would not key in my price now. From 2.10 to 2.13, you can see so many queues to sell. Buyers now have more bargaining power.
